Most of the people perceive motivation letter a formality during application process. Therefore there are not investing strong efforts to write a personal statement that will ensure their placement for a job/scholarship. However, this often perceived “pure formality” called motivation letter can win you a job interview and future job placement. Below we provided you a list of key elements that have to be included in your letter of motivation, in order to write a good one:

1. Do not forget to mention why you have decided for the concrete company to apply for a job. Be clear, concise and express your unbiased motivation.
2. Try to reflect personal approach as much as possible. For example if you know the name of HR person, address the letter to this person.
3. Do not mention your weak point in the letter, since they will be probably discussed during your job interview. However don’t be to much vainglorious since this will make wrong impression. Be realistic about yourself and try to point out your strong points.
4. Your letter should reflect positive spirit and orientation on future. For example you can use following phrase: ”I am eager to improve my skills and fully prepared to adapt myself to the new working environment…”, instead of “I am not experienced in the relevant field.”
5. Quote and describe concrete facts and situations to articulate your motivation for specific company/placement.
6. Try to find out as much as possible about company before applying. This will show your interest about company and reflect you ability to prepare relevant information on your future post.
7. Put only the most relevant facts and experiences in your motivation letter. Keep it brief and clear. However do not forget to tell something about you as a person.
8. Mention your accomplishments in education or professional experience. It would be also useful to express you perspectives in career of in education., for example where do you see yourself in the upcoming period.
9. Use a motivation letter as a tool to distinguish your application from other with sample qualifications.

In this post we would like to list common mistakes applicants are making when writing motivation letter. In order to make successful application, try to avoid following common mistakes: 1. Motivation letter is a copy of another motivation letter you found online, without proper tuning to yours qualifications and purpose. Please bear in mind that letter of motivation must suit your qualification and experience, as well to desired post you are applying to. Since letter of motivation is personal it has to reflect your own style.
2. Motivation letter is too general. Letter of motivation has to communicate clear messages, while employer needs to perceive your motivation for post you are applying to.
3. Language used is to complex. Often applicants try to use to complex language in order to catch employers attention, and to create better image of themselves. Certainly language used in letter should reflect in some extent your qualifications and ability to express yourself, but try to use simple language delivering clear thoughts and messages. Every sentence should have clear meaning. It is also recommended not to use poetic phrases, instead be concrete as possible.
4. Motivation letter is pure reflection of CV. Try not to merely list items from your CV. The motivation letter should be complementary to your CV where you can draw attention to some of the relevant items of your CV. Rather focus on identification of key points from your CV that are especially relevant to the post you are applying to.
5. Your contact data is missing. Before submitting letter check that you have included all the necessary information. Therefore do not forget to include your contact details. We assume you are writing this letter to get a response from employer, right? J
6. Function you are applying to is missing. Bear in mind to state in letter position you are applying to.
7. Before sending please check the language used in letter, in order to avoid any spell / typing errors. At this stage you may also use spell check option in your MS Word.

Author Keith M. Parsons’s purpose was to briefly summarize the differences between high school and college to his future students. Parson begins his article by stating a few things that will guide you into becoming a successful student. He first wants to explain the difference between a teacher and a professor, “Teachers are evaluated on the basis of learning outcomes, generally as measure by standardized tests. If you don’t learn, then your teacher is blamed. However, things are very different for a university professor. It is no part of my job to make you learn. At university, learning is your job and yours alone. My job is to lead you to the fountain of knowledge. Whether you drink deeply or only gargle is entirely up to you”. (Parson, 1)…

For as long as I can remember, hard work not only allowed me to excel in my academics, but it pushed me to challenge myself as well. As a student who did not shy away from Advanced Placement courses in high school, I decided to further challenge myself in my undergraduate schooling by joining the Boise State Honors College. I most notably remember my freshman year taking an Honors Communications 101 course. This course was an awakening to the fact that “good enough” did not equate to “excellence”. The professor’s high expectations left me overwhelmed at first, but I had to make the choice whether or not to rise to them. My hard work and refusal to settle for less than I was capable of not only earned me an A in the course, but I ended up learning things about communication and public speaking that I still utilize in my work and school today. This commitment to academic excellence has remained with me throughout my undergraduate career. From my greatly challenging minor in music to my final senior integrative paper, I never settled for less than my best, and I have seen how putting forth my best effort has reaped greater academic rewards and taught me far more than taking easier classes ever could have. This is demonstrated not only in the challenging classes I selected but also my 3.977 cumulative GPA. I know this determination and commitment to challenge myself and strive for excellence will remain with me in my graduate studies as well as in my future…

I think that I challenged myself to receive good grades, and that I have done so this semester. I am eager to find out new or different things that I have some knowledge about, but I was amazed at the things I thought were right with counseling issues that I was completely wrong about. I am sure that I still have a long way to go, and many new things to learn. I feel that I was entirely invested in this class and all the assignments that were given to me. I wasn’t late on any assignments and many times had the assignment finished before it was due. I read each chapter carefully and was interested in each new thing that I found. I always want to do my very best in each class that I take. I returned back to college when I was 40 years old. This was something that I had dreamed of for many years, but was afraid to try it. I thought that I wasn’t smart enough to go back to school. I am glad that I made this decision even if it was many years after I should have done it.…

I have recently completed my first semester of college and I am now entering into my second semester. College wasn’t as difficult as I originally thought it was going to be. I thought college was going to be one of the hardest obstacles that I was going to have to overcome in my entire life. “Why?” you may ask, because even though it’s not impossible, it’s certainly very hard to succeed in life without a postsecondary education. On that note, I would like to say that I don’t want my future career to be dependant on the “chance” that I will be successful and achieve my goals in life without a college education. I would also like to proclaim that I know that as long as I stay focused I know that I can certainly make good grades. Although even…

I always strived to do the best that I can, in everything that I do, and this especially applies to academics. In 6th grade, I joined the honors program at my middle school; from then on forward, I made sure than my work was of high enough quality so that the following year I would be placed in honors courses. These courses are what I believe prepared me for my success in high school. I got a taste of what it was like to be in an environment where every pupil was hungry for an education and for knowledge, and I grew to want to learn as much as my classmates. I entered high school with courses that upperclassmen had that challenged me more than anything else had before. It was during my freshman year of high school that I realized that I couldn’t…
