Sonia Sotomayor Event Report
Having a U.S Supreme Court Justice, Sonia Sotomayor attending Campus is not only interesting but very educational. I’d love to attend this event if I am available that day. I believe the event timeline would be strictly structured as someone with a prestige job like Sonia Sotomayor is our guest. As for the requirements, there will probably be some type of security check while arriving at the event and also a precise time table.

    A time when Sonia Sotomayor was determined to give back to her community was when she had to give her speech during her speech competition. She started by talking about the killing of Kiddie Jenaveys and how it took place. After she got off work from her job at a bar late at night around three in the morning, getting home to her apartments in the queens, she parked her car in a nearby parking lot walking through an alley towards her apartment when a stranger appeared in her shadow and frightened her so she ran and he caught up to her and stabbed her in the back as she screamed and cried for help.     The Rehnquist court’s decisions in the past couple of years haven’t been as significant as the people may think they are in increasing the autonomy of the states. The court case of medical marijuana under Chief Justice Rehnquist did not end what they called the “federalist revolution”, because there was none. This court case was a case that obviously had significance throughout the country as it has been a highly spoke about topic. I believe that the ruling in favor of the states was expected in this case which is why not much power was shifted from the central government to the states. I believe more that the central government lost some power compared to the states gaining power. They lost the power to regulate commerce to a degree. I believe now that since they can not regulate the buying and selling of medical marijuana it opens up more controversial topics to also not be regulated. The Commerce Clause “authorizes the federal government to prohibit the use of medical marijuana”, but it wouldn’t make sense to regulate it because then any item could be regulated.…
