Song Analysis Of Arsonist's Lullabye By Hozier
The next song I chose is Arsonist’s Lullabye by Hozier. The reason I chose this one is pretty self-explanatory, Philip murdered Mr. Fairview by setting fire to the Garage. However, the lyrics that specifically go along with that event in the book are “I’d sit for hours, staring into open flame, something in it had a power…” and “all you have is your fire… don’t you ever tame your demons, but always keep ‘em on a leash…” The “demon” that Hozier refers to could easily be the ghost of Philip’s dad for Philip, and he expresses that he needs to keep control over the “demon”. Philip would most likely relate to that because he blindly trusted his dad’s ghost, which resulted in him killing the wrong man, hence why he needs to “keep him on a leash”.
