“Some People Think That They Can Learn Better by Themselves Than with a Teacher. Others Think That It Is Always Better to Have a Teacher” Which Do You Prefer? Use Specific Reasons to Support Your Opinion.
Learning process is essential to everyone’s future success. To achieve the best results, learners choose different studying methods which are suitable and efficient for them. Some people believe that they can study effectively without having teachers’ help. However, others think that it is always better to have a teacher. For me, learning with teachers can help people get remarkable achievement more easily; therefore, studying with teachers’ instructions is considerably better than learning by themselves. In the first place, with teachers’ help, learners acquire more reliable knowledge than students have one by themselves. Teachers are always full of experience and have standard understanding of many fields in life. Moreover, they often have to select the right information as well as prior knowledge to give students lessons. Therefore, learners can broaden in-depth awareness in the best way. In contrast, if people have self-knowledge, they may obtain unreliable information from different sources. For instance, when studying some events in history, learners are able to find inaccurate materials about historical knowledge through personal blogs on the Internet. Consequently, these learners even misunderstand the basic knowledge of common aspects. Secondly, studying without teachers’ help tends to possess fewer skills than learning with teachers. Although self- studying helps people create independent thinking and improve their self- consciousness, they feel difficult to gain other important skills. Learners rarely communicate face- to- face with others in studying, so they often lack interaction and communication skills. On the other hand, people can develop above two skills and team- work skill effectively. When students learn with teachers, they can also have chances to study with other learners in classes. Thus, they often have to present ideas in the oral way to their teachers as well as other students, and it is good for them to gain contact

To all students and teachers studying is the fundamental path to mastering a subject or lesson. But studying is no longer the simple definition of opening a book and reading with notes being taken on the side. Because of our current understanding of the human mind and the way the brain functions we have discovered that many students who would be originally dismissed as “lazy”, “unfocused” or more harshly described as “stupid” are in fact people who do not process data the traditional means. In the old and traditional classroom, the teacher would say, “I will dictate, and you will listen. I will repeat, and you will recite. I will test, and you will either pass or fail. This is how it has always been done.” (Ryan and Klinger, 2002, pg. W11) Somewhere along the way, my students turned off to this approach. Their confidence is weak and their study skills are weaker. Bandura believed that a student’s self perception will influence their performance, determination, and what they are willing to tackle in the learning arena. (Klinger, 1999) Grabe and Grabe state that students frequently use a single study approach, even when course material and evaluation procedures very considerably. (2001) Clearly a different teaching and learning approach is needed.…

During the after school sessions that I have attended, I worked on English, Mathematics, Biology and Physics. When I was a tutor, answering the challenging questions of my peers and going over the subject over and over again made me comprehend the topic better. While explaining them the subject in different ways, I was also reviewing and studying it. For instance, when a friend of mine asked me the similarities and differences of competitive and incompetitive inhibition, I was able to visualize the types of inhibition in a better way. Looking at the other side of the coin, when I was a tutee, I had the chance to observe my friends’ studying methods. For example, while studying with Beste, I learned that making diagrams and lists are very helpful for science branches. Furthermore, it is easier to ask the things that you don’t understand to your friends. You can ask the same thing over and over again without feeling embarrassed. Besides, I’m an auditory learner. When I worked on a subject with my peers, either listening or explaining, hearing the words made it easier for me to learn.…

In addition, a first idea for improving academic study is to reduce class-side. Student in a small class will have more chances to use the equipment and resources than in a big one. This not only allows the teacher to have time to examine student’s homework carefully, but also encourages more discussion for different themes in class. Furthermore, teaching methods are key roles in education. Teachers should not too strict or rigid, but they should gives students rights and chances to be chosen to lead lessons.
