ABSTRACT: In the history of the development of Social Work Practice there is a Paradigm shift in its Approach from Individual to Groups and Society and now it established as a Profession which Primarily objective to make People Self Relient. Social Work is an Art rather than a Charity Work. The Ideology of Social work Practice has broaden the Scope to working with the Marginalised Groups.
Marginalization is a social process by which a section of population within a larger society is excluded from meaningful participation in that society. Marginalisation mostly occurs to a group of people sharing common features like race, sex or age.
Marginalisation is not a modern practice it persist in almost every society or community from ancient time. But today we are living in the world where the principle of equality is flourished which Ensure us the equal oppurtunites and participation in decision making process then how Marginalisaton could survive more longer.
WHO ARE MARGINALISED GROUP: From the various incidence and activities these groups consider as marginalised group (i) People with Disability (ii) Minorities (iii) Women (iv) Members of LGBT community (v) SC’s and ST’s etc.,The idea of paying special attention to"the poor and mean and lowly" has been emphasised throughout human history by noble souls like Jesus Christ and in recent times by Mahatma Gandhi and Mother Teresa.Yet it is something that is consistently forgotten by most of the rest of us.
To brought the Marginalised group in the Mainstreaming in the Society is Main concern of Social Work Practice. This Paper will facilitate the Social Work Practice with Marginalised groups.
