When I had this bright idea to do a scared straight program, I reached out to my brother’s best friend, Jordan. Because he was in Prison, I thought he could provide me with some valuable perspective as I worked to develop a program. I couldn’t believe how polite, considerate, and compassionate he was. It turns out he was in a group home himself from the ages of 12-18, taken away from his family by DCF after he told his teacher at school how his father and grandfather had together been raping and molesting him.
There are significant number of reasons and things helping to develop the sense of identity on the part of people. Some of them influence this process positively, and others have the negative impact on identity formation of people in the modern society.
