Social networking has had a phenomenal effect on communication and information flow. As a professional, demonstrate how you would utilize social media to enhance your company’s line of business?

“Social media is web and mobile-based technologies which are use to turn communication into interactive dialogue among organizations, communities and individuals” according to The Cogent Consulting Group. Social media offers a web-based opportunity to gain customers, increase knowledge base about what customers are looking for and get them involved in the company’s line of business. Social media includes many different forms of online communication, including Facebook, Twitter, blogs, forums and podcasts. (Adams, 2012)
Utilizing social media can enhance my company’s line of business by increasing the customer base by creating an online presence. By creating an online presence, marketing campaigns would be able to reach people on a global scale that could never have been reached through local advertising. Therefore the popularity and customer base of my company will grow as a result of creating and maintaining an online presence. Visibility is important as the company’s social media presence will let the customers and followers know what the company is doing and as a result when the company is doing great things, the followers are more likely to share the company’s business with their friends and family who may also be interested in what the company has to offer. Therefore, creating a connection with potential customers can increase customer base and brand loyalty and by using social media on a consistent basis, fresh content is always added, which will attract more visitors to the website.
Engaging with the customers, allows my company to meet their needs and satisfy their desires, so taking interest in the followers can be very rewarding. When the company is showing that it cares and is interested in its customer base, the followers will notice the great customer service they are receiving and will recommend the company to their family and friends, giving the company the opportunity to increase its customer base. Also by utilizing social media, Facebook for example, my company can target a specific audience that we want to attract. Facebook allows you to select very specific criteria when placing an ad. For example, if we place an ad for surfing lessons for people who live in Barbados, Facebook will show the surfing ad to the company’s target audience i.e. people who are interested in learning to surf.
In conclusion, as a professional I think that utilizing social media is very critical in a company’s success as 80% of customers prefer when a business has a social networking site, according to The Internet Advertising Bureau. This is important because it allows the company to help people by providing information about the company and specials offered depending on the company’s line of business and in return it allows people to help the company by bringing fresh, new ideas, offering ways of improving the company and also letting me know their desires and needs.
