political: colonies were ruled by religious leaders through small town meetings, had to identify with church in order to join community or own land.
Economic: the people were mostly self sufficient farmers living on family-run farms and a few merchants so thats also why they had the least slaves. They made their living fishing, whaling, and shipbuilding. They sold fish like cod, herring, hake, and bass.
Social: Structured around the religious beliefs and values - religion determined social structure and maintained social order in a community including laws that were often made by the governors. Anyone with any government or church power was treated with the most respect. Education was important to those in the colonies.
