Soccer Pitch Descriptive
The view of a soccer pitch is what millions around the world crave to see. The passion runs through their veins with each beat of the heart. A soccer pitch seems ordinary to people who do not get the game, but with a better understanding the same individuals would appreciate the breath of joy within it. A soccer pitch is the definition of beauty and enjoyment itself. Gazing at a soccer pitch is like seeing Christmas morning all over again. The soft, gentle grass never seems out of place. The sharp lines outline the most enjoyable sport mankind has come to know. Goals sturdy and strong are set up across the sea of green, like two battleships holding a great battle. Soft nets hang in wait of soccer balls like a spider waiting to devour its prey. In the four corners are flags marking boundaries that cannot contain the excitement generated on it. In the midst of all this green is a huge circle that engulfs the middle of the pitch. The circle is perfectly rounded like the ball that is played on the beautiful pitch. At a young age I played soccer during the spring time. I remember seeing the bright rays pass through our minivans dark windows. Hopping out quicker than a hiccup I ran towards the soccer pitch with excitement filling my small body. The same rays shined down across the vast field with reds that spooned higher blues like two loved ones high in the sky. Morning dew was glistening on the quintessential surface. The sound of laughter filled each child’s ears as well as all of the parents’ hearts. Birds and crickets chirped delightful noises that bounced off the pines across the way. I could feel my exuberant body dying to run around joyfully with each sight of the soccer ball. At the end of the practice with my heart still intent on playing, I felt the tiredness seep through like a deadly kiss to each immature

She places her hands on her knees and bends over in order to catch her breath. She looks out at the goal and the goalkeeper, then takes a quick glance at her teammates– her eyes scanning the stadium as she does. The vivid colors of the American and Chinese flags stand out no matter where she looks. The sound of silence engulfs her, and she can feel the audience’s eyes drilling holes into her. She takes her hands off her knees, stands up and looks down at the ball. The Chinese goalkeeper keeps her eyes focused on her opponent and the ball, making sure she does not look away for even a second. She takes a deep breath, and is overwhelmed by the smell of dirt and sweat. She looks down at the ball and then the goalie.…

As we got closer to the entrance, we saw a bunch of stands up which let you practice soccer skills. I, without thinking twice, ran up to try to win a brand new soccer ball. The ball was very cold, smooth, and had a bunch of little bumps on it which allow for better grip when dribbling. It’s colors were bright red, green, and white with a big eagle in the center. This all felt like little jewels that the big monster of a stadium was allowing us to…

The most prestigious international soccer competition is that of the world cup, held every four years, it lasts about a month, the most recent one being held in South Africa world cup 2010. With more than a billion viewers a day and tuned in to approximately 30 billion times, it is more popular than the Super Bowl, the World Series, the Masters, and the NBA finals. One reason many researchers believe it is so popular, especially in third world countries is because of the lack of things needed in order to play. All you need is a goal and a ball. Soccer has always been something I loved but also something that I didn’t always take seriously until about my freshman year of high school. I can remember my first time realizing and seeing how awe-inspiring place the center of a soccer field can be. I was in the latter half of 8th grade, taking part in a league being held by a local K-8 school and my team had made it to the final. After winning that game I remember I just sprinted as hard as I could into the middle of the field and just jumped as high and far as I could and just yelled as hard as could, it was at that moment that I fell in love with the field and game like I never had before.…

Perception comes in many forms, identities, and cultures. The real problems arise when people are forced to seek similarities through the difference. My first impression of the freshmen soccer players during my sophomore year was just awful. They were just some punk kids coming up from the middle school to us. “They never really knew how to play,” we convinced ourselves. It seemed everyone was so much happier when we were the new kids on the field instead of those silly children. As soon as they stepped on the pitch, they oozed confidence. (Onomatopoeia) “Hey, do you want to be my super fan next year when I make varsity?” they chided. It seemed they fed off of each other’s energy as they playfully teased and prodded our egos. How would you feel if some kids started running circles around your already established team? (Rhetorical Question) You might have already assumed… We hated them. (Pronouns to address the audience)…
