Jacob states that in order to have control of your strike it is beneficial “to hit the ball against the left wrist, never past it”. Furthermore, some caution should be made to avoid a pushed putt where the left wrist blocks the tapping action of the right hand. Jacobs continues to describe the motion that results in a straight hit through the ball as follows: “the club should start straight back, swing slightly inside, then return along the same inside-to-straight-through path”. This descriptive image is helpful to visualize how to make direct contact with the ball. In class, I observed that the balls I hit tend to travel slightly to the right of the hole.
