“ Why , Yolanda , dear , that’s snow ! “ Zoelaughed . “ Snow “ . This moment reminds me when I was small . I wanted to discovery the world around me . All those misunderstandings , lack of knowledge and assumptions in my childhood sum up to create unforgettable , joyable and innocent memories .

When I was 7 years old , I started to go to my grandparent's city , a countryside city , to visit them while me and my brother were in summer vacation . My grandparent’s house had a big garden with countless tree, which we could harvest a lot of delicious fruits from. Whenever I had a chance to come , I tried many of them. There were some new fruits that I hadn’t tried yet . However I still remember that sunny day, I saw a strange fruit . In the summer of my fifth grade , I came to see my grandparents . As soon as we arrived , I ran to the garden to see if there were any ripened fruit for me to eat . I saw a different fruit because I could tell by the appearance . The fruit was quite similar to guava and it has a little external part outside of the fruit . I thought that part would be the scape of that fruit so I took the part I believed that was the body and tossed away the “ scrap “. Because the “ body “ part had a mixed taste between

When we are kids our parents tend to teach us how important is to eat fruits, what they don’t teach us is what comes along with that. That is for us to experience because only the ones who do, are the ones who can really take something out of it. I am a fruit person; I can say that I like them all but every time I try eating strawberries something interesting happens to me. I am like a little girl looking for what is there to learn about fruits in her first day of kindergarten, but all at the same time, using my five senses.…

The most beautiful sight I ever saw was the day the entire city of Fort Collins had so much snow; everything had come to a standstill. A low pressure system had blown in the night before, and twenty-four hours and six feet of snow later, the entire city was engulfed in the snow’s icy grip. It didn’t matter what anyone tried, everyone was at the mercy of Mother Nature. But it was not until after the snow had melted away, its destructive beauty was fully comprehended. The sheer weight of six feet of snow was too much, and many buildings collapsed under its mass.…

As far back as I can remember my mother had always made coffee cake. My parents are both teachers so when we would get enough snow to where Anne Arundel County Public Schools would call a snow day, my mother would get up early and make the family coffee cake for breakfast. As a child I remember waking up to the smell of the sweet, spicy treat and knowing that there was no school that day. This would automatically create a felling of over-exuberance just knowing that I did not have to go to school. Secondly, I would be ecstatic knowing that I could play outside in the snow all day. This creates memories of playing with my neighborhood friends and building huge snow people, snow forts and playing commando with snow balls.…

I take myself and put my mind towards a panorama of an area where there is nothing but openness. I gently lay each element in place to complete my comfortable image. In Frost’s title, the woods would be one of the first elements I would place myself in the middle of. They give off a vibe telling me that I am alone. After I know I am alone, I can place soft falling flakes and chilled wind around me, which is what I think of most when Frost writes, “Of easy wind and downy flake” (548). The last and most important element of my dreamy creation is the simplicity of silence. The silence in winter is what I consider to be the end to tie up everything I see. In relation, I can receive an idea of how Frost felt, but maybe not with what exactly he saw. His poem, though, still speaks to me no matter…

    An Essay on Snow

In order to understand our selves, we must first understand snow. I find my self constantly drawn back to the subject of snow. While much has been written on its influence on contemporary living, several of todays most brilliant minds seem incapable of recognising its increasing relevance to understanding future generations. Crossing many cultural barriers it still draws remarks such as 'I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole' and 'i'd rather eat wasps' from the easily lead, whom I can say no more about due to legal restrictions. Keeping all of this in mind, in this essay I will examine the major issues.…

The clock has just struck seven o’clock in the morning and the sun is in full bloom. It is dazzling, illuminating the tent and making it difficult to see due to it’s substantial brightness. Across the lake lies a mantis green meadow with a prodigious, dark brown mountain standing tall at it’s rear. Snow from the long, frigid winter still rests on it’s face. It looks quite appetizing, as it resembles whipped cream scattered about on a piece of German chocolate cake. The sun beats down with force, slowly melting the snow’s life away and creating an unpleasant glare as a result. The trees surrounding the lake are as green as ever, fueled by the snow runoff that creeps slowly into their roots, quenching their thirst, feeding their growth. The sky is brandeis blue like the tropical ocean in the Bahamas. The bright blue lake is shimmering and looks as inviting and refreshing as ever. Everything looks like it belongs where it is, helping to do it’s part to create the appealing picture. It is beauty at it’s finest, simplest and most natural.…

The playful boy in Birches is imaginary, he represents a younger version of Frost himself. The boy enjoyed swinging on the trees by “riding them over and over again / until he took the stiffness out of them”(30-31). This visual image illustrates the victory of the poet in moving to his own imaginary world where “you’d think the inner dome of heaven had fallen”(13). In a study guide on Birches, it is claimed that “this line (13) signals the beginning of a retreat from reality” (Poetry for Students, Vol. 13). In addition, comparing the birches in the ice storm to “girls on hands and knees that throw their hair” (19) symbolizes the captive position of the speaker who is getting older as the Birches, year after year. Even though the poet feels free when he is a swinger of birches, he reached a statement that “Earth is the right place for love” (53); climbing the trees and knowing about coming back again is an example of escape and transcendence towards heaven. Identically, the speaker in “Stopping by Woods”, is watching “the woods fill up with snow” (4), the “frozen lake” (7) in an unfamiliar location. With a feeling of sadness, he wants to keep on contemplating the nature but many objects prevents him to do so; the farmhouse in the village where he belongs and the confused little horse. In fact, the speaker concluded in that wintery location that his horse must thought it was strange to stop there, so the animal shake his harness bells. Frost, in this image creates an auditory imagery to explain the soothing silence that made the speaker fleetingly forget about his…

A few hours earlier, the meteorologists were predicting yet another blizzard, nineteen inches this time. The black ice on the road was now starting to clear up from last month’s snowfall. I stepped off the train and walked into Shop Rite to gather emergency supplies in the form of Breyer’s Cherry Vanilla ice-cream, Entenmann’s All Butter Loaf, bread and Nyquil. Preparation was key. All public schools were scheduled to be closed the next day due to the inclement weather. This news delighted my then 6 yr. old…
