Smells Like Teen Spirit By Paramore: Music Analysis
Music dates back in time beyond one's imagination, but gradually expand into something bigger and intellectual. People listen to music, but underestimate the true power and influences it could have on others. In today's time artist uses music as a way to send a message out into the world expressing ideas, emotions, and in many cases stories.“Music can change lives, whether you are having a good or bad day, the power of music can change one’s mood” (Jess Bowen). Nirvana and Paramore have written songs about reality and real life problems. Many of their songs stood out because it started something call a music movement. In the song Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana and Now by Paramore, the listeners can see the two different artists share similarities and also differences through the genre, meaning of the song, and the music video.

The lead singer Kurt Cobain and a close friend Krist Novoselic started the band while in high school. The band was their way out of feeling alienated by the other students in high school. In 1987 a well known Seattle label called Sub Pop jumped on the first chance they got to sign Nirvana. The underground rock population played a very important role in the band music and style.
