Smart Brief
All of the Smart Briefs I have been choosing I realized have focused on subjects similar to that of our assignments in this class and my choice for this Smart Brief is no different. The Smart Brief I chose is titled “The Secret to Resume Success” and was written by Romy Newman, President and Co-Founder of Fairygodboss, on huffpost.com. Romy Newman also lists five things a person should do when trying to perfect their resume. The first is adapt your resume for each company you’re applying to. Normally when I am trying to find a new job I apply to several at a time most if not all are very similar positions so I do not change my resume to fit perfectly with each company but after reading this Smart Brief I will make sure to put more effort into make my resume fit the individual positions for each company better instead of doing a kind of overall resume. Newman mentions again to use keywords throughout one’s resume but I was surprised to read that Newman recommends getting rid of the objective or summary statement. I don’t know if I will be following that suggestion since I feel writing the summary statement is a way for the company to in a way hear my voice instead of just reading a straight forward resume. After I graduate I plan on looking for a particular position but I know sometimes it is best just to get your foot in the

I work as a recruiter for a large insurance company, and lately I’ve seen a lot of resumes that would have been better off without an objective statement. A resume is a document used by persons to present their background and skills, most often they are used to secure new employment. They contain key words that potential employers are looking for, make heavy use of active verbs, and displays content in a flattering manner. When writing a resume it should be done both formally and in Standard English because a certain level of respect has to be given to the employing authority. A resume itself can be considered a persuasive piece since the writer is basically trying to convince the employer as to why they should be given the desired position.…

At the very least an internal auditor should have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration but some companies prefer a Master’s degree in Accounting. Although the Bachelor’s degree would provide basics and a simple knowledge of the expectations of the person the Master’s would be much more in-depth and cover every area a person would need. In completing an internal audit a person needs to know everywhere to look in the company to find every aspect that affects profits and cause problems. Financial reports present complications and difficulties for the average person to read and understand. A person needs trained on what to look for and where to look. A Master’s program will teach a person what he or she needs to look for and where. It will also give them a platform to build on. They will learn about and what safeguards to check and ensure they are working properly and what systems to check. To give a person more credentials and show he or she has the ability and knowledge to be an internal auditor I believe they should have certification. If they are a certified internal auditor they have more experience and backing than a person who just has the job of an…
