WedgeCorp manufactures golf clubs. The clubs have rubberized grips that golfers hold onto to swing them. Neil bought his wife a set of clubs for her birthday. Cindy, Neil’s wife, is an avid golfer and uses the clubs frequently at the local golf course. When WedgeCorp manufactured the clubs, they used improperly mixed glue that did not tightly bond the grips to the end of the clubs. Seven months after acquiring the clubs, Cindy went golfing with her friend, Kate. While Cindy was swinging a five iron, the grip came loose and the club sailed through the air, striking Cindy’s golfing partner, Kate, in the forehead.…

The 30 year fixed mortgage loan seems to be one of the most popular loans people take out because people get to pay back the money over a stretched period of time. The interest rate on a fixed mortgage rate stays the same throughout the life of the loan. Each monthly payment is equal to the interest on the principal and some of the principal amount. Since some of the principal amount was paid off when the loan was taken out, the interest payment on the remaining principal will be a little less each month. The payment is the same each month so some the principal amount is paid off each month. This loan is so popular because of fixed interest rate and lower monthly payments; however because the term is so long, you will have to pay more interest. These rates have been up and down for months now, but on February 21, 2013, according to The Wall Street Journal, the 30-year mortgage rates were at 3.85%. The way these rates are measured is through percentages because it makes it easier to understand its changes. The periodicity of the 30-year mortgage loan rates happen on a daily basis.…

Mildred Pierce, directed by Michael Curtis and starring Joan Crawford, Ann Blyth, Zachary Scott and Bruce Bennet, is a film often cited as noir, and has been a subject of many feminist critiques. The historical situation of the film’s showing, 1945, is cited by such feminist critiques as a manifestation of the film’s relationship and engagement with the eventual emergence of feminist movements in the 1960s and 1970s1. World War II was an event that saw a large portion of the American male population being shipped off to fight in Europe, leaving industries in the United States lacking in labor. Women had to replace men in this regard, which caused a social transformation that saw women gaining economic and social power. Such power was short-lived, however, as at the end of the war, men began coming home, and the patriarchal order had to be reestablished and women needed to assume their former, “traditional” roles back in the household. This historical and social transformation had basically allowed women to recognize their oppressed state in the traditional family unit, having experienced what it is like to work and to gain…

Sample learner work and assessor comments follow for the assignment A1 Local businesses and industry sectors (P1, P2, P3, M1, M2). This unit of work introduces learners to the world of business. All of the target assessment and grading criteria for this assignment have been met (P1, P2, P3, M1, M2). This assignment is one of three assignments. The other two assignments would need to be completed before an overall unit grade is awarded. The learner has been asked to produce four case studies about different businesses. They have chosen three locally based businesses and one which is in their local area, but is considered a national business. These fact sheets cover the assessment criteria for P1, P2 and P3. The learner has followed the structure in the assignment brief and has provided detailed information about each business. They have incorporated relevant images for each business. For each fact sheet the learner has covered: the purpose the activities the ownership the size and scale links between the ownership, size and scale the industry sector local and national examples of the business. Learners should be given freedom to choose businesses for the fact sheets, but they must be aware that some primary research may have to be undertaken to gain sufficient information about smaller local organisations. The second sample of work focuses on the difference between two of these businesses. This piece of work covers M1. The learner has compared two contrasting businesses looking at their purpose, activities, ownership, liability, size and scale. The final sample of work looks at the changes in different industry sectors (M2). This builds on what the learner has covered in the fact sheets. The learner has researched the changes in the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors on both a local and national scale in order to…
