Slavery is when a human is being categorized as property and is forced to work without payment. Human trafficking is a major crime and is a huge violation of human rights. Every year, thousands of women and children come in contact with traffickers, in their own countries and many other countries abroad. Many traffickers use the vulnerability of women and children for sexual exploitation, forced labor, removal of organs, and is ultimately a practice of slavery. One young woman, Holly Austin Smith, is a survivor of human trafficking and recalls her experience very well.
