4. The whites also put pressure on the shrinking bison population by hunting and grazing their own livestock on the prairie grasses. This place pressure on the Native Americans who were already in conflict with the whites.…
Sitting Bull was buried at Fort Yates in North Dakota, and in 1953 his remains were moved to Mobridge, South Dakota, where a granite shaft marks his grave. He was remembered among the Lakota not only as an inspirational leader and fearless warrior but as a loving father, a gifted singer, a man always affable and friendly toward others, whose deep religious faith gave him prophetic insight and lent special power to his…
B.) General Custer’s old regiment put together the Sioux and took them to Wounded Knee after sitting bull had died. The soldiers made the Native Americans give up their weapons and when one couldn’t find its weapon it had went off and shot out and they thought they were trying to arm so they fought and shot back at the Native Americans. The Battle of Wounded Knee ended the Indian wars.…
Thomas "Stonewall” Jackson was a man of humble beginnings. He, himself, was a humble man. However, he possessed many qualities that under the right guidance would make him one of the great American military generals. The population of Indians in the New World greatly altered the political and economic society there. After 1492, 90% of all Indians had died due to disease from the Europeans, greatly weakening the power and supremacy of certain Indian tribes. Tribes like the Inca, Maya, and Aztec were all some of the strongest tribes and empires in all of the New World, but nevertheless were defeated by Europeans as a result of new leaders being put in charge of these strong groups because of the previous leader dying of disease. The population decrease in the New World also resulted in the a decline of economics for the Indians because once the Europeans discovered and claimed the lands that each tribe lived on, they were forced into slavery and more specifically served under the encomienda system because of their minimal power and supremacy over the Europeans. Clearly, the decrease in population negatively affected the political and economic systems of the Indians.…
He faced and overcame the Civil War. He abolished slavery knowing this would not be favored by everyone. He never gave in and stood by his own beliefs. However, he did have a cabinet of opposing views he still stayed loyal. He faced opposition evrywhere he went and did not let that phase him. He had courage to do somethungnso brave knowing it could have gotten him killed. Which it did and to me that makes him even more brave. He was strong and he was an amazing leader, that is why he deserves his rightful place on Mount Rushmore among the nations…
The Battle of Little Bighorn was a conflict, which changed the history of the Indians and Americans. It was in 1876, that Sitting Bull combined forces with the Cheyenne and Sioux Native American tribes, defeating the U.S 7th Cavalry, under the leadership of George Armstrong Custer. But how could a highly trained, heavily armed cavalry officer and his command be defeated by a group of Native American Indians?…

The Spanish used a combination of military force along with disease and the cruelest forms of death to completely cripple the Native American empires. After some time, the Natives just stopped fighting back because they were mentally broken (as well as physically). The author says, When there were among prisoners some women who had recently given birth, if the newborn babes happen to cry, they seized them by the legs and hurled them against the rocks or flung them into the jungle so they would be certain to die there and also says, In the face of utter hopelessness, the…
Part of the policies that the federal government put into place included separating the Indians into reservations, interfering with their ability to roam freely. This caused the Native Americans to face suppression and poverty. Not only did their population have to deal with being divided amongst themselves, but also their land, the White settlers brought with them diseases that the Indians had no immunity to, and the availability of buffalo herds were diminished. These White settlers used the hides of the buffalo and left the meat to rot which evidentially hurt the Indians because they were unable have the meat to eat. These policies not only had an effect on the land that the Indians lived on, but had a major and detrimental effect on the livelihood of this population, making them sick and taking away one of their only sources of nutrition. Even though the federal government needed some of the land that the Indian’s had settled on, there could have been a more effective and progressive way of going about it that could have benefited both parties involved.…
Another way that the Americans stopped them was since they put the Indians in the reservations their buffalos, which is also part of their culture, could not survive due to the land. Some buffalos would run away before they even got there, the buffalos that stayed would die because there wouldn’t be any grass left. The Indians felt terrible when this part of their culture was taken away.…
