Sitcom Big Bang Theory
For this assignment I watched an old episode of the sitcom Big Bang Theory in syndication on the TBS cable network; however, the show is still being produced and new episodes air weekly on CBS. The show was created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, and the target audience is ages 14-49 (Fandom TV, 2016). The episode I watched originally aired on February 24, 2011 and was from season 4, episode 17, “The Toast Derivation.” The main plot of this episode was that one of the main characters, Sheldon, came to the realization that he was not the center of their friend group dynamic, which consisted of Leonard (Sheldon’s roommate), Howard, and Rajesh (“Raj”). Leonard had recently started a new relationship with Raj’s sister, Priya, and Leonard decided

“Gym, Tanning, Laundry”, these three words have become increasingly popular among teenagers because of MTV’s hit reality television show, Jersey Shore. Television shows and their stars can become very influential to many of their viewers. The Brooklyn Nine took place during world war one and during the immigration migration. The main character Felix Schneider is a germen immigrant who cheered for the New York Knickerbockers as they played in 1845. In 1957 a ten-year-old Jimmy Flint thought he had enough to worry about with bullies and sputnik, but then the Dodger announced they were leaving Brooklyn in. In 1981 Michael Snider finds himself pitching a perfect game during the little league season at Prospect Park. Snider Flint tracks down a bat that belonged to one of the Brooklyn’s greatest baseball players in 2002. The immigrants need a lot when they got to America. The Brooklyn Nine by Alan Gratz accurately portrayed the 1800’s and the1940’s through education, large populations, and various religions of the immigrants during this time period.…

Description: Television comedy shows play a good role in our society. Earlier in 1950s to 1990s many great shows came out such as Father Knows Best and The Crosby Show. This journal will be based on one episode from each of those two shows. Both episodes represent families living together. Father is the main character in both shows. Husbands and wives relationships are very good and loving. Father knows best episode shows the value of money such as when dad buys scooter for his for $50 and sells it for $40 but at the end his son buys the same scooter for $30. Like a number of current sitcoms, the male protagonists are portrayed as being afflicted by variant strands of perpetual adolescence. If they are not working, they are playing online role games, hanging out at a comic book store, or ingesting successive waves of takeout. Of course, a sitcom must include a subplot of ongoing sexual frustration, and "The Big Bang Theory" does not disappoint. The lone exception is the theoretical physicist who views "coitus" – as he calls it – as a mere distraction from his work.…

This conversational article written by Karen Holland is one that gives an opinion based piece that describes the relationships of a specific T.V. sitcom and how we can learn from that sitcom as well as others. The specific sitcom specified is titled Modern Family, I which the author particularly likes. Though Holland does not describe Modern Family relationships in detail, she generalizes the relationships of sitcoms as a whole. She does this by describing the characteristics of the relationships such as the fact that the couples accept each other’s flaws completely and all conflicts are resolved in thirty minutes or less. By the end of the piece Holland says we should rewrite out own relationship “scripts” to make our…

Now this is a story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down, and I’d like to take a minute, just sit right there, I’ll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel-air. These are the opening lines to the intro song of the television comedy “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, that me and every 90’s kids with a TV has had memorized since the day we first heard it. Even as you read that first sentence, you can’t help but to rap the words, and hum the tune as you envision a young Will Smith spinning on his royal chair with the graffiti background. The effect of the lyrics and the music video to this intro song goes way beyond pure entertainment value. The music video and lyrics spread happiness, smiles, and even helped to usher in a new generation of kids with the carefree fresh prince mindset.…

Boobie Miles in the book Friday Night Lights had minor differences from Boobie Miles in the movie. In the book they touched on boobie’s background and how he got to live with his uncle L.V. the movie didn’t touch on that. In the book Boobie had more pressure on him to do well in football than in the movie. The Odessa townspeople felt like he was only good for football and after his injury he was a nobody. In the movie people were less hateful towards him even though he suffered the serious injury.…

When you sit down in front of the television on Friday night and think about what you are going to watch, you should definitely consider the hilarious British sitcom, My Family. This modern day sitcom is based around the lives of an average, middle-class English family and their day-to-day experiences. The program is set within an enclosed world which changes between the Harper’s residence and a dental surgery. The funny and opinionated characters follow each other throughout their family problems and help each other out in their own special way, even if it may be of no help whatsoever. Each episode allows the viewer to ‘have a barrel of laughs’ at situations that shed light on what are considered ‘normal’ scenarios while the characters in the program attempt to solve the predicaments they get themselves into.…
