Chapter 1- Introduction
Background of the study
Many students in colleges are addicted in cigarette smoking. There are many reasons why students smoke. Some are just influence by their friends or peer pressure, and some is just conscious, and lack of parents care and guidance.
Statement of the Problem The researchers made a study to see the percentage of students who is smoking in Don Honorio Ventura Technological State Universtiy. This study will also show on what the students will do in this situation.
Significance of the Study * Student
This study will help the students so that they realize the wasted time and money when they smoke and the risk that they can get in smoking. * Parents
This study will encourage their children to stop or prevent smoking.
Scope and Limitation The researchers are only limited by the students to be interview (100 students) and it is according to the percentage of all students in Don Honorio Ventura Technological State Universtiy. This study is limited to the number of students in each course.

Definition of Terms * Peer pressure – refers to the influence exerted by a peer group in encouraging a person to change his or her attitudes, values, or behavior in order to conform to group norms.
