Some of the characteristics of Jeff Bezos leadership style are that he always challenges idle thinking, he makes customer service a main priority, and he continuously renovates his approach. Bezos does not accept that there is one truth about the way things should be done, even if that way has proven to be successful previously. An example of how Bezos challenges idle thinking also illustrates his stark belief that failure is an opportunity to progress: Years ago, when the bulk of product was written and spoken language the company hired editors to write book and music reviews then decided to use customers critiques instead (Anders, 2012). That relatively small decision speaks volumes of Jeff’s commitment to truth and to customer satisfaction.…

Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin Group has been a household name in the United Kingdom for over twenty years. He is well respected in the business world. He is the founder of the Virgin Group, which is known for many different things such as cell phones, record labels, airlines and many more. “Branson is also known for his unique character and leadership styles, one who is not afraid to take risks, and believes that people are the foundation to his company's success. If I were to first characterize his leadership style I would say he is definitely a democratic leader. He truly feels that getting other peoples input and listening to what people have to say are a core value to him. He carries a notebook in his pocket all the time just in case he hears something interesting from people that he interacts with on any level. Whether it be an employee, friend, business partner or complete stranger, for him he knows that good ideas can come from anywhere and anytime (Leadership Styles, 2006).” According to Psychologist Kurt Lewin, democratic leaders make the final decisions, but they include team members in the decision-making process. They encourage creativity, and people are often highly engaged in projects and decisions. As a result, team members tend to have high job satisfaction and high productivity. This is not always an effective style to use, though, when you need to make a quick decision. The business dictionary website corresponds in its meaning of a democratic leadership style stating that the style involves a team where all persons are included in the decision-making process as well as the procedural course of action. According to an article in Entrepreneur, there is almost nothing Richard Branson won’t do to promote his company. As eccentric as this plights may be, they have made Virgin one of the best-known and most popular brand names in the world. The…

    1) To me, business isn't about wearing suits or pleasing stockholders. It's about being true to yourself, your ideas, and focusing on the essentials to achieve your ultimate goal. Branson had a high internal locus of control means higher job satisfaction, and a preference for participative management. He began building his entrepreneurial empire in his teenage years. At age 17, being frustrated with the rules and regulations of schools and brimming with activism, Branson and a friend, Jonny Gems, started a magazine called Student. The magazine tied many schools together and focused on the students themselves rather than the schools. After publishing the first issue of Student, Branson receive a note from the headmaster of the school that he and Gems attended. The headmaster wrote: "Congratulations, Branson. I predict that you will either go to prison or become a millionaire." Another characteristic of Sir Brandon is self-efficacy, one could say as the people's beliefs about their capabilities to produce designated levels of performance that exercise influence over events that affect their lives. "People with high assurance in their capabilities approach difficult tasks as challenges to be mastered rather than as threats to be avoided. Such an efficacious outlook fosters intrinsic interest and deep engrossment in activities. They set themselves challenging goals and maintain strong commitment to them. They heighten and sustain their efforts in the face of failure. They quickly recover their sense of efficacy after failures or setbacks." That explains the fact that Branson dropped out of school and continued to pursue his entrepreneurial interest. His next venture was a discount music business called Virgin Records. Another characteristic was high self-esteem, "what our unconscious believes to be true about how worthy, lovable, valuable and capable we are. In other words, our self-esteem is very dependent on factors within our environment. It is formed as a result…
