Chapter Summary
Chapter 1: Champagne Billy
Champagne
Billy packing his school bag with his personal things and plans to run away from home. Billy takes his dads cigarettes and champagne.
Kiss The Dog
Billy is sitting on the veranda with his dog ‘Bunkbrain’. Billy wants to bring ‘Bunkbrain’ with him because he reckons no one “deserves to stay in this dump”. But bringing a dog would cause many inconveniences. Billy takes off.
Longlands Road
Billy walking through Longlands Road. This place is full of deadbeat no-hoper shithole lonely downtrodden house. Billy says his goodbye to all this.
Wentworth High School
Billy arrives at school at 4:30 on a rainy afternoon and plans to say goodbye. Billy leaves a message on the window in red lipstick.
Westfield Creek
Billy loves this place, it is where Billy spends his school days here reading books he had stolen from a bookshop. Billy fails every subject expect English. This is his favourite classroom.
Please
Waiting on the Great Western Highway, waiting for a car ride away from this place but so far no cars will stop. Billy does not want to go home.
Freight Train
Billy still waiting on the highway and not one car has passed.
Looking across the freight train the coal carriages are all empty and is heading to Waggawang Coalfields.
Billy races across the highway and jumps on the train just as the train whistle blows again lurches forward.
Cold
Billy is two kilometers down the track and is freezing to death. He wraps himself with the clothes that he brought with him.
Keep Warm
Ernie founds Billy hitching a free ride and makes a joke out of it but invites Billy into his cabin. Ernie offers Billy sandwiches and some drinks. He tells Billy to jump off at Bendarat at dawn when he blows the whistle three times.

Billy thinks about the men that he had encounter in his life. There are men that nice and don’t boss you around, men that knows the value of
