Persuasive essay

I believe that Christy Natsis is guilty and should be put in jail, because part of her trial says that she is not allowed to drink any alcohol what so ever, however, not to long ago Christy was found in her local licker store buying more alcohol, which make me believe that she may have an addiction to it.

My first reasoning that she is guilty is that while she was driving home the night on the incident, March 31st 2011, when multiple witnesses said they had seen her in the parking lot of Crazy House in Kanata crashing into a light post, other cars, etc. Also, after she had killed the man (Bryan Casey) right when the police started to chase her, the first thing she did, even before she pulled over, was call her lawyer, so she obviously knew she was in trouble.

My second reasoning that Christy Natsis is guilty is because the officer took breath readings that read over two-and-half times over the legal limit. She was charged with impaired driving causing death. She has been fighting for innocence. It also makes it very suspicious how a lot of the evidence cannot be used in court.

My third and final reasoning is because a waitress had said they had waited her quite a few drinks that night. However, even if that wasn’t true, she still had the booze the police found inside her car she could have drank after her night out.

I strongly believe that Christy Natsis is guilty and should be punished for what she has done the past two years of her life. It just is not right! How can someone be so impaired behind the wheel that she kills someone!

Defendant’s Argument: Mrs. Sutter was not serving the alcohol. The teenage guests in her house at her daughter’s party were serving themselves. Unlike commercial liquor establishments, they have no bouncers to prevent drunken drivers from leaving. The common law rule creates no cause of action against someone who provides alcohol to someone who voluntarily becomes intoxicated, and consequently injures himself or someone else.…

Just over nine years ago my hometown of Cameron was absolutely devastated by a terrible accident that took the life of a high school junior. After the homecoming parade, many high schoolers were racing back to the school so they could get ready for the big game that was to follow later that night. As one group returned to the school the driver tried to show off his truck by slamming on the accelerator while pulling into the parking lot. What he forgot about was the two girls sitting on his toolbox in the bed of his truck. As he veered the corner both were thrown from the truck, instantly killing one and severely injuring the other. It was believed that underage drinking was one of the leading factors that may have caused this accident.…

Facts: Kyle John Kelbel was convicted of first-degree murder, past pattern of child abuse, in violation of Minnesota state statute section 609.185(5) and second-degree murder, in violation of Minnesota statute 609.19, subdivision 2(1). He was sentenced to life in prison for the death of Kailyn Marie Montgomery. Kelbel appealed, and argued that the district court failed to instruct the jury that it must find that the state proved beyond a reasonable doubt each of the acts that constituted the past pattern of child abuse and he also argued that the evidence against him was insufficient to prove past pattern of child abuse against Kailyn. Kelbel testified that the head injury of Kailyn was inflicted by a cup thrown at her head by step brother Evan. Kelbel also testified that other injuries found on Kailyn were caused by Evan and that he is "rough" with her. Medical examiners ran an autopsy on Kailyn's body and determined that the injuries had been caused by blunt trauma and force caused by a knee or fist. Medical examiners testified that the injuries caused could not have been caused by a cup thrown at her head or by an accidental fall down the stairs. Kailyn's mother, Lindsey, also testified that Kailyn had previous injuries that she became concerned with. Upon retrieving a search warrant, police entered Lindsey's home to find further evidence. Police found a dent in the wall near Kailyn's bed. After Kelbel was eventually found guilty of the charges brought, Kelbel filed a motion for a judgement of aquittal and for a new trial on the grounds that the evidence was insufficient to support his conviction. The district court denied the motion.…
