Before Katniss ever leaves her home in Panem’s District 12, she is dating her hunting partner Gale Hawthorne who, like her, is very poor and struggles to survive. Gale’s father died in the same mine explosion as Katniss’ father which makes them all the more close. Gale is active, angry at the Capitol for all they have done, and outspoken which reflects on Katniss as they both hunt together, taking care of family, acting as providers for their families. Though Gale is not necessarily a match for Katniss, despite their similar backgrounds and friendship, they get along and understand each other. For the most part, Gale and Katniss have an equilibrate liaison where they are both equal in the woods…

Another big similarity is the word “tribute”. It comes from the Latin word “tributa” and it means a tax paid to the government. This means that Katniss pretty much sells herself to be spent by her rulers. She can be represented by the idea that the game makers can control what goes on in the capitol and the lives of the victims. Katniss volunteers as tribute to save her little sister Primrose, who has little to no survival skills to be put in the Hunger Games.…

The protagonists also face difference difficulties in their stories. Tris mainly struggles to find her place in her new faction, while Katniss has more day-to-day problems, such as finding food for her family. Also, Tris and Katniss play different roles in their nation’s war. Tris is more of soldier, involved in the combat itself, whereas Katniss is portrayed rather as an icon of hope for the rebels. Furthermore, Tris and Katniss both engage in romance in their stories. Tris always shows affection towards only Four, but Katniss is involved in a romance triangle with two boys and struggles to decide between them. The final contrast between Divergent and the Hunger Games is that in the Hunger Games, the Capitol is more clearly defined as the…

Everyone in society must have been influenced by others around him. Think about it; a person can always find several people who have influenced him deeply in his life, such as his parents and teachers. More specifically, the person can be directly influenced by their words and actions; he can also be unconsciously influenced by their minds and moods. However, these influences can be positive or negative for a man. Katniss, the protagonist in The Hunger Games, has been influenced in both positive and negative ways by three characters: Gale, Cinna and Cato. Gale teaches Katniss hunting skills like a big brother and promises to take care of Prim. He has a positive influence on Katniss indeed. Cinna, as Katniss’s stylist, helps her get sponsors and eases her before the tribute interviews. What he does for Katniss has really influenced her positively in the Games. As for Cato, on the contrary, he is the archenemy of Katniss in the Games. There is no doubt that his tracing and killing plan brings a lot of troubles to Katniss and has influenced her in a negative way. In brief, Gale and Cinna have influenced Katniss in a positive way, while Cato has done it in a negative way.…

Many mythological beings share similarities with modern characters in literature. Prometheus is no exception. Katniss is very much like Prometheus in many ways. One such similarity is that both of these characters are related to fire. Prometheus steals fire from Zeus to give to the humans on earth to help them survive and Katniss is shown as being the “girl on fire”. The fire for Prometheus is showing that he is a kind person who will do whatever it takes to help others. Katniss being depicted as the fire is showing that she is fierce and a force to be reckoned with. The physical fire is similar between these two but there is also the spark of rebellion in both Prometheus and Katniss.…

Some of the movies' more prominent themes are the same. Both focus on the family, particularly the role of the father. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Attacus, who is based on the father of author Harper Lee, is an upstanding parent. Not only is he an excellent role model for his children, but he takes time to talk to his children. He respects them as growing individuals, allowing them to call him Attacus, and explains important issues rather than discounting them. Jake cherishes his daughter more than ever when he compares her hypothetically to his client's victimized daughter Tonya. The power of the family institution is reiterated when Carl takes revenge upon the offenders who raped Tonya. These ties drive an otherwise socially conforming man into violating the sanctity of human life in cold blood without regret.…
