Similarities Between Donald Trump And King Arthur
Donald Trump and King Arthur “Let’s make America great again!”—Donald Trump (Donald Trump Campaign Website). Donald Trump is a modern politician who is possibly the boldest and bravest republican you will see. Although he is very different from King Arthur, there are a few parallels that you can draw between the two and that will make Donald Trump the modern Arthur. Donald Trump can bring about reform and the rebirth of morality if he tries hard enough, and he will. The first major parallel between the two is the most obvious; Donald Trump is currently the top candidate and will most likely be the president of 2016. Furthermore, the second parallel is that both King Arthur and Donald Trump are brave. Last but not least, the most important parallel is that both King Arthur and Donald Trump pay attention to equality in interesting ways. Let’s begin with the first parallel between Arthur and Trump. With Donald Trump being the top candidate, it is very likely that he will become the president of 2016. This is where the first parallel comes in, making Donald Trump similar to …show more content…
Granted, Donald Trump can have a bigmouth, but nonetheless he still considered equality. For King Arthur, equality meant that no one was superior, especially at the round table. “Arthur wished for his chosen knights to sit round a round table, so that nobody would be superior.” (King Arthur Biography). Also, morality has changed greatly throughout the years and we are more accepting of LGBTs (lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender), especially in marriage. Donald Trump believes that people shouldn’t be fired or not hired just because of who they are, but believes that marriage should be between a man and a woman. “Angelo said, ‘It’s a complicated relationship that Trump has with the LGBT community, but if ever there was a group that can be said to have had a warm relationship with Trump, it’s LGBT individuals.’

Justice had been his last attempt-to do nothing which was not just. But it had ended in failure" (White, OAFK 634). The "he" in this passage refers to King Arthur, the main character in T.H. White's The Once and Future King and Book of Merlyn, who failed in his attempt to unite England due to the mistakes made by him and those close to him. Arthur, betrayed by those close to him, not properly educated on the greedy, selfish, and violent heart of man, failed in his attempt to create a stable, progressive, and peaceful society.<br><br>To begin with, those close to Arthur made mistakes that would lead to his eventual downfall. Merlyn's forgetfulness kept him from informing Arthur of his mother's name. "...but suddenly he remembered it in his sleep-the simplest thing! It was Arthur's mother's name which he had forgotten to mention in the confusion!" (White, OAFK 310). If Arthur had known the identity of his mother he would not have slept with his own sister, "...but it seems, in tragedy, that innocence is not enough" (White, OAFK 312). This account with his sister created Mordred, who, taught by his mother that revenge had to be taken, would be his father's killer. Others close to Arthur betrayed him as well. Gwenever's selfishness and jealousy as well as Lancelot's "evil steak" played an important role in the King's downfall. They chose to sleep with each other behind the King's back, knowing that the discovery of their affair would destroy his life's work. If Gwen and Lance could have just come to the realization that they could not sleep each other and still be loyal to their King, this tragedy would not have taken place.
