In the Spongebob episode there is much more of a rising action, climax, and resolution; while in the Simpsons’ episode Bart is killed immediately at the start of the episode. As stated before the humor in Spongebob is not very dark at all, the worst thing that occurs is that the Flying Dutchman says that he’ll take people’s souls. With The Simpsons there is so much disturbing content that it is hard to pick out what is the darkest. The Simpsons also acknowledged events that occur in the real world, while Spongebob is very cartoon oriented, and a lot more simple than The Simpsons. But both are also similar in a few ways. In the end there is a twist in both episodes. Sideshow Bob has never succeeded to kill Bart so it was incredibly unexpected that he would kill him in this episode, especially so early on in the episode. In Spongebob at the end nobody expected spongebob to look like that. Also both episodes do utilize shadows to make the atmosphere for “spooky” moments appear…

One of the rudest person I've ever known was the Grinch from How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The reason why I think he is rude is because he actually threw a christmas tree at someone and he wrapped a little girl in gift wrap and then left her there like a christmas present. He also stole everyone's presents. At the end if the movie the Grinch had a change of heart and gave all the presents back. That is why I think he is the rudest person.…

The Simpsons is an American TV series, created by Matt Groening. This TV show is more for children. The series is a satirical representation of the middle-class American lifestyle epitomized by the Simpson family, which consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. I think one of the themes in this book is that in life sometimes someone can have the best intenitons to change people and change a culture, but it doesent work and the person conforms to that life. On the otherhand one reason the person intiontentions of new ideas might not work because that person could possibly be before their time meaning that the person ideas could be great for people in the future, it might not work in the present. In this story if Carol was around during the women’s revolution then her ideas could have been viewed as forward thinking and those ideas could have been used and she could have had a better life and could have felt that what she was doing was worth it in the end but because came earlier the majority of…

Many memories run through Scrooge’s head on Christmas Eve. He is always cranky and never appreciates anything. Ever since his partner Jacob Marley past away he turned into a mean bitter old man. He is so mean that if Bob Cratchit wants money he will have to work on Christmas day. For being that way Bob pays a little visit saying that 3 ghosts will visit him to teach him a listen. The first is Ghost of Christmas Past and he shows him how lonely he was. He shows him how he got married and money blinded him from his love. The next night came and the Ghost of Christmas Present showed him how families celebrate Christmas. The Crachits had little but they were very loving that they even send blessings to Scrooge. Next they went to his nephew’s house and saw all the fun that Scrooge was missing out on. The last ghost came the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come who showed him why he should change the ways of acting he has. They found out how he died, Bob Crachit’s son died and how much chaos there was with the economy. Suddenly Scrooge was back into Christmas day the 3 ghosts wanted to see if he would change so they gave him one l more opportunity. Christmas in Purgatory

I learned a great deal from watching the Willowbrook video and discussing the Christmas in Purgatory book. One of the most interesting things I discovered was how recent the events we saw and talked about actually happened. I had not realized that the kinds of inhumane images we saw had only happened less than 50 years ago. It was hard for me to believe that other people, who were not in the same position as those who had to give up their children and loved ones and send them away, could just turn their heads and look the other way. After seeing the video and receiving a glimpse into the lives of the people and families that had to live through the traumatic events that took place I completely agreed with the Christmas in Purgatory book that “there is a hell on earth.”…

In Dave Granlund’s cartoon “First Thanksgiving”, pilgrims and nativeamericans discuss today’s new Thanksgiving traditions in a 1621 setting. The topics these people are talking about around the table show that not everybody today focuses on the true meaning of Thanksgiving, based on the activities the holiday involves today compared to four hundred years ago. First off in Granlund’s comic, one of the pilgrims is shown saying “Although we do not yet have HD plasma TV”. The next pilgrim goes on to say “to watch Thanksgiving football”. The third quote in the comic from another pilgrim states “There is still reason to give thanks” despite the comments made by the previous two pilgrims.…

Has the real meaning of Christmas been lost? I believe it has, and recently more and more people are feeling the same way. Christmas has become a contest of who can have the biggest tree or the most lights on their house, an excuse to buy an obnoxiously expensive gadget for yourself and just call it a "Christmas present", a reason for Hollywood to make another holiday movie and profit millions of dollars, a way for companies to market their products to consumers, using Christmas as a gimmick. The list could go on, but the point is, none of those things are even closely related to celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. Which is after all the real meaning of Christmas, and what about Santa Claus, his true origins have also been forgotten.…
