Advancement in technologies have created a smarter culture, promoting innovative applications to learning on current technologies. Although reports show many negative effects towards learning skills from modern technologies, the same reports inadvertently show otherwise. Without looking further into this problem, a person could easily jump to conclusions about the harmful effects technology causes on learning skills. These assessments could lead to drastic reductions in advancing modern technologies; therefore, the positive effects of this subject should counter the argument. Education advances from the use of modern technology, which positively effects learning skills to help further the user’s knowledge.
Some positive benefits of technological learning skills are evident according to an online newspaper article in Science Daily. A study concluded video game skills were a better predictor of surgeons’ successes in performing laparoscopic surgery than the actual laparoscopic surgery experience. Laparoscopic surgery is an operation through the use of a small camera. The study showed the best video game players made forty-seven percent fewer errors and performed much faster at laparoscopic surgery than the doctors who were less experienced playing the video games (“Is Technology”). Science Daily also reports the findings of a New Zealand researcher Paul Kearney. Kearney measured a multi-tasking study and found people playing realistic video games before engaging in military computer simulations showed great improvement in their ability to multi-task. Another example from Science Daily points to the use of modern technologies leading to proficient multi-tasking skills. Patricia Greenfield, a distinguished professor at UCLA, explains these improved multi-tasking capabilities can greatly benefit many professions throughout the economy, for example pilots and cab drivers. Greenfield goes on to say

Between the two writers, Steven Pinker and Nicholas Carr, two articles about technology’s effect on our brain and performance were written. Pinker’s argument was more convincing. He proves that technology isn't completely awful for you and that it does indeed help to obtain further knowledge. “Far from making us stupid, these technologies are the only things that will keep us smart.” states Pinker in “Mind Over Mass Media”. Pinker shows that even though media and technology are advancing rapidly, it is all to help us expand our knowledge. Carr’s argument is against technology, but with a world so full of technology, we can’t be deprived of using it on a daily basis. Technology has a massive effect on our day to day lives and will continue…

Is technology making us smarter or dumber? An argument that has grown over the year, almost seeming everlasting. Technology in the Stone Age did not start with computer and electronics, but with fire, wheels, and clothing (Holt). Today, we may consider theses as tools, but in the Stone Ages, they were advances. A positive technological advance that leads us to cell phones, the internet, and robots. Technology has made us do more as we multi-task on a single computer, but making us understand less of what we're doing and using “technical wise”. Technology has not made us wiser; nor hard workers to look for answers, but it has made us smarter, capable, and multitaskers. Children now a day want to engage in learning because technology has made…

When it comes to the issue whether modern technology really benefits students' study, people's opinions differ from culture to culture, and person to person. Some insist that modern technology increases students' efficiency in learning, while others believe that their attention is actually distracted from studying by using modern technology to the contrary. On a personal level, I partially agree on the prior one, which contends that with the help of technology, students can learn more information and learn it more quickly.…

Since the early Twenty First Century, there has been vast advancement in technology, particularly in the field of computers that are developing faster than even the blinking of our eyes. Simultaneously, technology has become a vital part of our daily lives. Most of our activities are the part and product of technology; starting from the way we receive our news through various websites and digital newspapers, paying bills online, sending and receiving email, and finding research information all on the Internet. More than 500 million people communicate and keep in touch with friends through online social networking (Hatch). As adults became increasingly more dependent and absorbed by technology, it is likely that the children of today have become enthusiastic users as well. Laptops and smart phones are being developed for children as young as five to ten years old. Since the minds of the children are complex and insensitive, there is indeed anxiety among many adults about how these technologies can bring about changes in children’s social life. As Hutchby and Ellis said “both ‘childhood’ and ‘technology’ to be accorded an unproblematic status, each treated as having a stable and self-evident existence as there is a straightforward impact of one upon another”(1). Specifically, children’s engagement with internet social sites and violent games has generated considerable concern and additionally mass media observations and discussion. There is an obvious argument that children’s exposure to these technologies will help them to cope with future challenges that they will no doubt encounter in their careers. While on the other hand, it is argued that children who are using technology are becoming more indolent, unappreciative and more prone to health related problem. Nonetheless, access to certain technology under proper guidance is a critical component for today’s…

Technology does not always mean success. While it can greatly help the advancement of societies and communities, it can also have negative consequences. Take modern day for example, the advent of new technology has contributed to the serious decline of the effectiveness of our education. Back then when there was not so much interesting and amusing technology, students could study effectively without being distracted. Nowadays the computers, phones, and tablets that we have serve as a compelling reason to not do homework or other school related tasks. This technology has more than dominated the lives of today’s young generation, and consequently decreased the success our educators have when teaching…
