Should the Internet Be Censored?
Should the internet be censored?

The internet is the last vestige of free media and press in the whole wide world. The internet is a far more powerful tool but unfortunately our politicians don’t seem to mix too well with technology and social media. Hence, I absolutely abhor the idea of a tyrannical government censoring. By censoring the internet they would be taking away the inherent right to freedom of speech. After an extensive research I have realized that via the internet you gain reliable resources, an array of communications and a vast amount of entertainment.
Firstly, the main purpose of the internet is to expand the depth of our knowledge. Nowadays, people of all age rely completely on the internet and most of them call the internet as ‘man’s best friend’. Websites such as Google, Wikipedia and many more provide dependable resources. For instance; Office work, homework, assignments and all information’s can be surfed via the internet. Besides gaining of knowledge, features such as maps, translation of language are some of the few available in the internet to assist people. Internet therefore has become an ocean of knowledge and every individual is a drop in it. Thus individuals have their information at their finger tip by the help of the internet.
In addition, people separated by distance sense much nearer and secured by the usage of the communication tab via the internet. Face-book, twitter are the two foremost social networking sites. People from different countries and states connect to each other for gratis. It is a public site where new friends are added and old friends are reconnected. Equally, Skype, What’s-app, Viber applications are available for friends and relatives far-off, to chat, video call, send files and many more. It is compatible for both youngsters and oldies. Such availability of various and free of charge communications doesn’t make distance a sticky situation.

Furthermore, entertainment has become necessitate for every individual of any age. Specifically, You-tube is the core source for entertainment. Music is the only companion during sour days and blissful days. Hence sites like you-tube provide music and video music of all genres and languages. Not only music but also movies, comedy, news, special events and talents are made available for viewers’ entertainment purpose. All music and movies can be uploaded and downloaded via the internet. Hence, entertainment for the public is highly dependable by the internet.

On the other hand, censorship is recommended mainly by government and many parents. Clearly, no right thinking wants their kids or their much younger sisters and brothers be watching or playing 18-rated movies and video games or dressing up like Lady Gaga or Nicki Minaj. Likewise, government and ministers are worried if information or rumours would spread via the internet. For several others, internet consumes most of their time rather than doing essential needs.
However, the attempt of censorship will restrict the privacy of ordinary internet users. Perhaps, pornography and other objectionable materials can be obtained elsewhere such as Cd’s and Dvd’s. Radios, magazines, televisions and ample other media endow with rumours and false information as well. Usage of internet in a time limit and blocking matured sites for children eventually increases the purpose of the internet.
But let’s make bones about it. Consequently, there is cosmic number of purposes by the usage of internet. Remarkably, gaining knowledgeable resources, communication and entertainment are the three main purposes by the internet. Hence, Internet should not be censored, because it is all about taking responsibility for what you and I as consenting as responsible adults see and do on the internet.

For the past twenty or so years information has largely been stored in digital form, providing the current generation of digital natives with access to more and more information in recent years. With this new flow of information available to the public has come increased censoring by the government. However, this is not a new issue as some might believe. Since the first primitive government was established information has been shielded and manipulated from the every day citizens of the world by those in power. The cause fought against information censorship enjoys the same past. For as long as information has been censored there have been those who have fought against it (Newth, 2010). This issue has arisen particularly in the United States, as some believe access to any information that exists is a right protected by the Constitution.…

Censoring the internet doesn’t allow individuals to know the truth about the world we live in. Also, it contradicts with our law of freedom of speech. Critics argue that if we’re blind to the world, it’s more dangerous than living in a world of truth. “Critics also say that by implementing a law on internet censorship, abusive government officials will get away with their wrong practices such as abuse of power and corruption” (Green Garage). Even though that might be true, the government will always do whatever it takes to hide certain information that could break them. In the end censoring the web will always be a tough topic to debate about. Experts have made very important points on why we shouldn’t censor the web but I still believe censoring it will be a huge advancement to everyone. Censoring the web prevents human trafficking, cyber bullying and stops identity theft. It also ends things like the black market and the other illegal activities. The list of upsides that censoring the web has can go on forever. I think everyone can agree though that saving people lives and stopping criminals in the act is way more important than some “truth” that might be hidden from us. Censoring the internet will either make or break this world and in the end we have to decide whether it’s worth finding…

Certain people feel as though the Internet should be governmentally regulated and censored in order to protect the youth of America. Censorship is a possible way for the powerful or those who sit in chair of position to destroy individualism, wisdom, and the marketplace of ideas. It means less freedom. If individual are prevented from exploring other thoughts and ideas then they are prevented from knowledge and power. “Wikinomics” states that a survey published by the Rasmussen Reports, found that 49% of Americans believe that the federal government should regulate the Internet the same way as radio and television. Forms of information communication such as television and radio have battled with the Supreme Court over what freedom of speech in the First Amendment really implies.…

The government is suppose to protect our freedom of expression, not censor it. People are putting censorship (officially suppressing ideas or writing) on art, book, and the internet. After Donald Trump became president multiple government websites disappeared from the web. These websites helped to inform US citizens about what is going on in the government. There shouldn’t be censors on the information people need, art people observe, or books people read. These censoring had formed unworldly, immature teenagers. Our young adults are the future, and they’re not ready to go into the adult world still. Censorship has got out of control because it infringes on teenagers rights to learn about the world and to express themselves.…

YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and other websites have become the greatest platform for free speech in the history of mankind. But many view this platform for speech as potentially dangerous. They can spread child pornography, or teach others to make bombs for use in a deadly terrorist attack. With problems like these, we must ask: What is the role of government in…

The battle over the internet has been going on for a long time.. People have debated whether the internet is a domain controlled by the government, or a free land populated by memes and emails. Before you choose, know this. The internet was invented to share information; specifically research and development for science and the military. Now it has grown into a tool which allows social networking, information transfer, business, shopping, and so much more, all which has contributed to globalization. However, the government plans to stop that. The government is censoring content on the internet that they find inappropriate. This would effectively remove the content from the internet, with no way to access them. The internet might have been made to trade off military documents, but it is now the people’s domain with over 2.2 billion global internet users today.…

"No bones about it, the Internet needs to be censored". At least according to Gerry Morgan, president of an Internet contents provider and a parent, he among other non-denominational Christian parents claims that they have found "the only realistic answer to the Internet porn-crisis". They've created a program where all Web sites are pre-screened, avoiding any material that can be harmful to kids (Watson). They say that the Internet has to be censored because it has material, especially pornography, which can and will be offensive to others. But not everybody agrees with that. The censorship of the Internet is still a very controversial issue, and people all over the world debate whether or not this is a case against free speech.…
