Should Student Do Part-Time Job?
Nowadays, students love to have part-time jobs. Their parents approve it easily as they are said to gain experience from working. However, having a job is a big responsibility for a student .by working their routine as students will be disturb. They have a lot of homework to do rather than working outside. In addition of school homework, there is tuition they have to attend especially the examination candidates. By working, they are most likely to skip their classes if their shifts overlap their schedules. Furthermore, they will not have enough time to study. As a part-time worker, their schedules are not regular and well organized. Some of them will work till late at night and neglect their studies as well. When they are at school, they will most likely to fall asleep and cannot pay attention in class. It also affects their performance in other activities at school. In addition, it will lead to the decline of their grades. They will have no time to revise their learning to prepare for examination. It causes their grades fall down badly and leads to depression. Worst of all is when they are giving up in their studies and decide to work as their priorities. those people who stand for the idea that students should not work part-time usually claim that students should save time for their lessons and exercises rather than work part-time. Furthermore, they need to maintain a good health for their study, and it may risk their life while working in an insecure environment. Though they make a point in their argument, it turns out to be more convincing that the benefits students get when doing part-time job outweigh the risks. First of all, it is commonly believed that students can get more practical experiences for their future business. In fact, formal training only provides students with a basic background. In this case, it is no doubt that working part-time seems to be more helpful as it helps students learn more about responsibilities as well as real business

Although having a part-time job may help a growing teen to be more independent, work ethic driven and more productive, it interferes with the school involvement of a teenager. Working long hours while attending school is just too much hard work for young adults to handle. Imagine getting home tired from a four-hour shift at work and still having homework to do after dinner and a shower. I’m sure some people can handle this for a week or so, but after that, they’ll get burnt out. Too much work leads to stress and eventually, working teen’s grades will drop. When their grades start dropping, they may cut back their course load and begin to avoid classes that require many hours of studying. In the article “Part-Time Work Ethic: Should Teens Go For It?,” Dennis McLennan cites evidence from a study of more than 500 working and non-working students at four Orange County (California) high schools, “part-time employment during the…

All of the positives about having a part-time job have one big caveat. Students cannot usually be employed more than 20 hours per week or their grades begin to suffer, they do less homework, and they are more likely to drop out (Gisler & Eberts, 2016). Your grades could suffer more if you were without a job than if you had a job during school. The busier you are, the more focused you become. Working really makes you more structured; you have a lot of things to do in a short amount of time, so it’s important to keep up with it all (Laskowski, 2009). So, if they get paid for grades and don’t get a job because you don’t have to, you won’t be structured as if you had a…

One of the most time consuming things about school is the homework. If a student is willing to come home from work and stay up till 3am trying to get their homework and projects done then they should be fine with a job. But most students like precious sleep. Work would limit a student on the amount of time they had to complete their homework. And if a student doesn’t do their homework then they’re grades will drop. Slipping grades is a big issue for athletic students. If a student has an ‘F’ they become ineligible to play sports. A job would cause a student to fail to complete their homework.…

Johan Cruijff once stated, “Every disadvantage has its advantage.” This famous quote leads to the issue of whether students should work or not work during high school, which has been a controversial hot topic in the Parent/Teacher Association. Working during high school may affect students’ school performance, yet working also provides invaluable working skills. According to the short article, “Part-Time Work Ethic: Should Teens Go For It?” by Dennis McLellan, “80% of high school students had held part-time jobs by the time they graduated” (270). Statistics show that the majority of the high school students held a position in a job during high school, and these students still graduated successfully.…

Students spend four years of their lives attending high school. Going through high school is mandatory as it prepares them for college and strength to face “the real world.” Having part-time jobs has become the phenomenon among high school students and many students follow this trend as well. Moreover, there are some pros and cons attached with it. Though it may seem like working throughout high school is a bad idea, it could better prepare students for “the real world.” Although some people believe that the primary duty of a student is studying, I am of the opposite position. I strongly support the idea that high school students should work throughout high school. This is because they can earn money, become responsible and get experience.…

Teenagers who have part-time jobs while they study get some valuable work experience. Most of the employers will be appreciative of the work experience an individual has. For example, if an individual applies for the job of a lecturer in a college and has experience as a Teaching Assistant in his college, he will certainly have a better chance of getting the job. Thus, the work experience that the teenagers get while studying will help them to get a job in their later life. Sharing of responsibility is something that teenagers will learn when they work part-time along with their studies. They will learn to share the workload and responsibilities with their parents and other family members. This will certainly ease the load on their parents and will help the family as a whole. For instance, if a family has two children who go to school, parents may feel it difficult to support both of them for their education. In case, one of them works part-time and supports him self to some extent, the parents can divert more resources towards the other child and get him proper education. Thus, the family as a whole is benefited. It may even improve the understanding and coordination between the siblings. Thus, in my opinion part-time jobs undertaken by teenagers along with their studies help them by making them self-reliant and independent. It also makes them more responsible towards their family and…

Summary: In the essay, "Part-time Employment Undermines a Student's Commitment to School" by Laurence Steinberg, it explains how studies show that teenagers that work while attending school are more likely to loose their commitment to school. Steinberg tells the affects on students when they work more than twenty hours a week. His theory was that students are more susceptible to losing their interest in school, while working. They may have to work in the evening time, which can interfere with homework, sleep and diet. Steinberg also elaborated on how these students that work receive money that can make school seem less desirable. Also because they do receive money, they can use their extra money to become associated with drugs and alcohol.…

Work vs. homework is a common decision teenagers have to make. Juggling a job schedule around school is a bit much for a teen to handle. I agree with Debra Viadero, a part- time job only hurts student’s grades. Too much work is a bad idea. A part-time job endangers students in many different ways. Working too much leads to a lack of sleep. Part time jobs can create a detachment from school. Also, working too much heightens teenager’s chance of injuries. People think working at an early age brings experiences and builds character, but really part-time jobs bring health and safety risk for teenagers or distracts them from their school lives.…

Nowadays is very important and essential for everyone students to have and manage their own money. They have busy lives, especially someone who has to juggle more than one task per day. The people in particular that I am talking about are college students, that is why most them decide to work and study at the same time. But, sometimes to do both things at once can bring some cause that can affect different aspects of their life. There is no single right way to balance their classes with their job responsibilities. Study and work at the same time could make students unable to focus on their study, stress and restless, less time for their families and friends to do activities and less time for time for themselves.…
