According to “The Value of Sports,” athletes are able to set better long time goals and strive for them, vs non-athletes, (2). Athletes who play sports are more focused in school, they are more motivated, and they learn skills that may improve their life in the future. There is a rule called No Pass No Play, which means if you don’t pass a class in school, you can’t play a sport (No Pass, no play law affects many students throughout Texas) (1). This rule is effective in states like Texas. Americans should be for students without passing grades being able to play sports, because students in clubs are not affected, and the youth of America needs the teachings and values that sports are able to bring. “School should be about learning, not sports”. Kids now a days love to play sports, but don’t like to learn. Learning, and get an education this is a very important thing in life you need it to have a good job so that you can have a family and support them. So I feel in school you must have good grades in order to play any type of sport, and if you do not then you should not be playing. A couple reasons I feel like this is for starters kids pay more attention to sports then they do in class. This is not how this should be. Kids should love to learn something new every day at school, but in some school that’s not the case. Kids need to learn.…

For decades schools have had sports been around but most of those sports are the cause of most failing grades. This is proven when the author states that the science class was deteriorating due to ill funds towards the classroom and more funds the sports instead.Another example of this is that the grades of the students that participate in these schools sports drop and are expensive to the student's family itself.I agree with this because it makes sense to first use the money on the school's classrooms instead of using it on the sports teams. My conclusion is that we should not have too much school sports so that the science lab is rotting in mold.…

Some may argue that sports play an important role in teaching life lessons to athletes. Yes, you can learn valuable things through sports, but you can take on even better traits through school and teamwork activities in the classroom without the problems that athletics comes with, like injuries and pressure. School comes before athletics and some athletes think athletics are more important than school, so eliminating sports will help these students learn valuable life lessons through school and activities in the classroom with other students.…

In a nationwide study conducted in the United States it was found that only 31 of 125 schools incorporated grade point average (GPA) into athletic eligibility (Bukowski). Many students in high school do not have academic requirements of any kind for students to be able to participate in sports and other extracurricular activities. In many schools and communities, it seems as though sports are taking over people’s lives, overshadowing other important commitments in students’ lives. Students are made to believe that athletes rule the school, and grades are often an afterthought. In most cases, athletics will only get a person so far in life. Students should be required to maintain a C average, or 2.0 GPA to be allowed to participate in sports.…
