Should Space Exploration Still Be Fully Funded By The United States?
Space exploration has been around for many years and should continue to be around. It helps people with knowing what is out in space. If the United States did not have money going toward space exploration people would be upset; especially companies and employees. It helps people study the complexity of the Earth and other planets in the solar system, and alerts anyone of any danger in the atmosphere. The technology National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and other companies are coming out with now is incredible. These incredible space objects are helping create jobs, exploration, new technology, and even long term survival. The inspiration, exploration, and long term survival modes are all reasons why space exploration should still be fully funded by the United States. The inspiration space gives people is impressive. All the space missions give kids and even grown-ups an inspiration to major in math and science careers (Anderson). The Apollo missions stick out to many people in the United States. As the world becomes more dependent on technology each and every day, it makes people need to be more scientifically literate to keep up (Anderson). Inspiring people by telling …show more content…
Being able to touch down on the moon, and walk on it is many people’s dream. It takes a bold character to do so, though; flying into space is dangerous, and people have seen that with missions. Exploring is in the human nature, people love to explore, but there is just something about space that makes it special. Space is different than your average vacation. It gets your adrenaline pumping because it is dangerous to visit. It is better because people can go to the moon and step foot on it and walk on it.     When I did this study, it was 34 years after the last dime had been spent on Apollo, the last of the manned Moon programs. Thirty-four years later, when I would ask guests on The Space Show, students, and people I met who were involved in science, engineering, and space-related fields and businesses about what inspired or motivated them to start a space business or pursue their education, over 80% said they were inspired and motivated because of our having gone to the Moon. Businesses were started and are now meeting payrolls, paying taxes, and sustaining economic growth because the founder was inspired by the early days of the manned space program, often decades after the program ended! This type of inspiration and motivation seems unique to the manned space program and of late, to some of our robotic space missions.
