Should school stop giving homework for students?
Homework. This famous works that teachers give for students to do at home. The word the most hated in the school world. Everybody knows what is homework because everybody had to done it when he was young. At the end of the class, it’s not rare that teacher give to the students some works to do for the next class or at a specific date. However, more and more people think that students have too much homework and that schools have to stop giving homework for students. But, some people disagree with this point of view and think that homework are benefic for the students. On Internet you can find some debate websites, which show that 50% of the people think that they have to stop it, and 50% of the people think the opposite1. In my view, all the students should do their homework everyday by working one-hour minimum.
First, the students need to learn by practicing. Indeed, when you want to learn something, there are no secrets you have to practice. A lot of people think that it’s only valid for sports or to play music, but it’s wrong. Thanks to a study conducted by Hill, Spencer, Alston and Fitzgerald in 1986, we know that homework have a direct impact on the students’ success. They indicate that homework is an inexpensive method of improving student academic preparation without increasing staff or modifying curriculum2. For example, everybody knows the sentence: “When you are attentive in class, you are learning 50% of your lesson”. But what about the others 50%? They will not arrive with a magical trick. Students should work at home. That the role of the homework. Moreover, it’s better for students to prepare the next class at home and work on what they just learn during the day because they are sometimes too much students in the same class and the teachers can’t explain
