Should People Wear Seatbelts Save Lives?
In society today, seatbelts can either save someone’s life or take it away from them. Multiple people everyday in the United States die from not wearing a seatbelt while driving. People should wear seatbelts, not only is it the law, but it makes roads safer and it can save lives.
Some people do not like to wear seatbelts due to them being uncomfortable. However, people not wearing seatbelts are 30 times more likely to end up in an abominable situation when an accident happens. Thus, people still do not like to wear seatbelts because of the malfunctions that can occur. Despite that, people are more likely to be ejected from a vehicle if they’re not wearing a seatbelt.
However, the utilization of seatbelts, in vehicles, has been proven to save lives. Statistics show that the wearing of seatbelts saves over 13,000 lives each year. It demonstrates when used correctly, wearing a seatbelt reduces the risk of fatality rates by 45% and the risk of moderate to critical injuries by 50%. Furthermore, for those riding in the rear of a vehicle during a crash, rear seatbelts are 73% better at preventing fatalities than front seatbelts. …show more content…
