Should Illegal Immigrants Be Deported Essay
In a world where terrorism is on everybody's mind, we’re allowing illegal immigrants to cross our border and while many of them have been in criminal activity. If someone were to ask you what your thoughts on illegal immigrants, what would your reaction be? Would drugs, the deaths of Americans, and stealing their jobs,to add insult to injury come to your mind? All illegal immigrants should be deported and not given amnesty because they bring crime to the US, open up windows for terrorism, and steal American’s jobs. There have been various studies done on the topic that relates illegal immigrants to higher crime rates in the United States. In a study done in 2005 the U.S. Justice Department studied 55,322 illegal immigrants and found they were arrested 459,614 times (Kouri). Part of the reason is that companies can hire illegal immigrants for less than American citizens. "Yes. Not only are American workers harmed by the loss of jobs, the hourly rates are reduced because of illegal aliens working for far less” (Jones). Illegal immigrants normally take jobs from American workers that only have a high school diploma. “The fact is that illegal immigrants take jobs from American workers, particularly poor and disadvantaged citizens and legal immigrants. The best outcome for low-skilled citizen and legal immigrant workers is the removal of the illegal immigrant population” (Smith). Many will argue that illegal immigrants are loyal taxpayers and the U.S. economy thrives because of them. Part of this statement is true: some illegals do pay taxes, just not as much taxes as they should be paying.
