Should High School Students Drop Out Of Highschool

Thesis: High school students should be against dropping out of highschool because they’re losing the chance at more opportunities, regretting in the future, and are far more likely of committing crimes. To begin, one major consequence of dropping out of high school is that students are losing the chance at more opportunities later on in their life. Dropping out of highschool puts you at a major opportunity loss compare to your high school graduated peers. Majority of the well paying careers require at least a high school diploma in order to be considered eligible for the job. Unless if you want to be paid minimum wage and live from paycheck to paycheck, dropping out of highschool should not be a thought that is entertained. A research conducted by Northeastern University concluded that more than 80% of the people incarcerated are high school dropout. When a student gets a high school diploma, they have a chance to be a better member of the community compare to students who do not obtain a high school diploma. There are has been tremendous amount of research done to show the correlation between high school dropouts and crimes. As the president of Alliance for Excellent Education, Bob Wise said “ dropping out of school does not automatically result in a life of crime, but high school dropouts are far more likely than high school graduates to be arrested or incarcerated”.
