Should Ethics And Morality Should Not Be Based On Religion
Religion basically means our set of belief regarding the cause, and the purposes of universe. Some people said that ethics and morality are comes from religions because, religions can guide human being to do ethical things and provide as most as powerful sanction to ensure people are behave morally. According to theist, human being cannot manage well without God and without God, there cannot be right and wrong. But, it is different from the view of atheist. They do not believe in God and religion. What guides them in doing moral and ethical behavior is because of their self-belief and compassion in them. There are a few opinions that ethics and morality should not be based on religion. The first argument why ethics and morality should not be based only on religion is because; there is a secular approach to morality called secular ethics. Secular ethics is a philosophy of moral that based on human awareness about the morality, why they need to act ethically and morally within their logical knowledge and not based on supernatural revelation that is the main sources of religion. Some people might have different level of trust and believe in supernatural power. Supernatural is something that unable to be explained by science and it is something beyond our normal visible. Most of religion encourages their followers to do something good by promoting heaven when they die and hell is for those who are doing bad things. It means that, they will get reward after death. However, hell and heaven, sins and reward cannot be seen. That’s make a morality should not be based on religion because, some people do not afraid of hell and punishment by God since they cannot see the real hell and some people also didn’t do something morally good based on rewards that their religion offered because they cannot see the
