Should Drug Testing Be Required In Professional Sports Essay
The use of illegal performance enhancing drugs in sport is a rising problem in professional sports. Drug use is hazardous to the person using them as well as to other people who are dealing with them. There are many reasons athletes choose to take drugs for sports like, to be faster, stronger, or to gain advantage over the opponent. Even though some professional athletes are not using performance-enhancing drugs, the fact that they are using drugs whatsoever is a big problem. Athletes are supposed to set a good example and using drugs like steroids to gain advantage over the other athlete is totally not a good example. Drug testing in professional sports should be mandatory.
One of the reason drug testing should be mandated in professional sports is to maintain fair game. The use of drugs like steroids is a form of cheating. The fact that steroids work so well, they establish a fraudulent benefit for those who are taking them, and this does not end up in a fair game for the opponents.
