Should Boys and Girls Be in Separated Classes
Should Boys and Girls Be Educated in Separate Classes?

Should boys and girls be educated in separate classes? This one of the most popular questions parents ask when their kids have to start school, as other questions like are they are going to be good students or which school can they enter, are they to little, and so many...Either they could be boys or girls they always ask this same question, should we put him or she in mix classes or no mix classes. The answer to this question determines a lot to which school they are going to put their kids, because it will vary if they decide separate or together. People have very different opinions on which way is better, separate or together. Most family parents use as an example their education they had from little kids and if it had worked, but also research for opinions on internet or family friends. I will tell you how you can make this big decision base on different opinion people made and also scientific researches that prove it; this will help a lot in decide the way you want the education of your kids.
Boys and girls have different methods for learning; girls learn better or understand better by visualizing or hearing their teacher or watching educational videos, instead boys learn more by doing things, like they will find easy if the teacher brought to class a ball and taught them the laws of gravity with a ball. Girls maybe they will like this activity but, they could get annoy because boys can start making jokes or they can start doing other things with the ball, like playing and not letting the girls work with it; this is because scientist say that boys and girls have different rates or ages of maturity like for example a girl of 10 years has the exact maturity or more, but boys mostly will have a maturity of a kid of 8 or 9 years and this make it a little harder for boys and girls to be taught in the same classroom because girls will take it more seriously, boys maybe kind of but they can start making jokes or doing annoying things. Other teachers say that boys and girls have different abilities in classes, like for example; girls superior verbal abilities in English or Literature Class, so boys are kind of intimidated at the time of reading out loud in class or making expositions, this will be a disadvantage for boys, but I think that we have make it like boys are the ones that are harmed with this system learning. But there is a disadvantage for girls when it comes the time for woodwork or shop or P.E. Obviously boys are more specialized with wood and all that instruments you use to cut and do all things with wood in the class of shop, but I think that in this case girls can catch up, but in other class like P.E. is not that easy like playing football or basket. In almost every sport boys get very violent especially in this two, in football they run faster and have more strength to kick the wall, in basket girls are shorter than boys so it makes it hard for girls to take the ball from boys to dunk. Also one point that parents consider is that when they are bigger like in high school and they get in loved or have a crush for a classmate they don’t concentrate in class because they only pass thinking in he or she, so that can make their academic notes lower. These were some ways in that it will be better or helpful that students get to be educated in separate classes. But this opinion only certain people have it, others like better in classes together. People say that it helps kid’s relationship with the opposite sex, when they are in separate classes they start to have traumas or don’t like to be with people with the other sex. In the real world you don’t always get to have a room only for same gender, I can only think of the bathrooms in public places but you are not always going to be in a public bathroom. After high school your new step is college where you are mix males and females and also then at work, so it is important that they can interact with the opposite sex. Scientist and also college teachers said that students that come from only one gender school have more problems in relate with other people.
As I said people have their opinion and thoughts on how people should be educated separately or together, each side have good points of views and I think the decision that you have to make it on base on your child and which method best works for he or she. I study in a only girl student school and I like it, I have never being in a mix school only in kindergarten and it’s not the same with the age I have, so I don´t have really the experience to tell you. Sometimes I wish we had boys in our school, but sometimes no cause I can´t imagine how some things will be very awkward or annoying with boys around, but I can still also relate with boys in outer school activities. But I think that the best idea that is between the two points is a school where you have boys and girls but at the time of going to class girls go to one and boys to other but they can also have some classes together and they will go at the own rhythm of each gender, and boys and girls will relate together at breaks and lunch, so I think that with this idea you will have each of the two points of views together, but you will need a really big school.

Both genders’ conduct is often different when it's time to study. Girls naturally tend to talk a lot during classes, and boys usually tend to be much more active and troubled, so they start to fight or talk to each other while the teacher is talking. Therefore, the students don’t pay attention to the classroom rules, classes are completely disorganized, and also students could start to be aggressive and rebels in class or even at home. Separating boys and girls make teachers to have their classes completely organized, and their students concentrated listening to them. For example, Ms. Thompson is a teacher, she have been working for fifteen years at Marlborough school, in California, she approves the separate education for boys and girls, despite the fact that work with girls can be very tiring. Her students are obedient and her classes are very tidy, girls always help to keep the class this way. One of the most common topics discussed in society today is education. Many things are debated, including charter schools, the teaching of cursive writing, how much homework to be assigned, and how long school days are. Another topic debated is same-sex classrooms and schools. Some people believe that same-sex schools and classrooms are good because they encourage boys and girls to go out of their comfort zone in their education. Matt Kwong, the author of “The Gender Factor” from Toronto Star also believes that these schools “take away that edge of trying to impress girls” for boys. Other people believe that same-sex schools should not allowed because they promote stereotypes and “deprive kids of equal opportunities”(Bonner and Hollingsworth). The Toronto Star and Pittsburgh Post- Gazette both provide strong arguments on the pros and cons of same-sex classrooms.…

People are not born to know what is proper for each gender to do. We all have had some experiences that taught us how to be a boy or a girl. Family and teachers are the two main socialization agents we faced when we were first gender-socialized. Children were taught to wear different colors and types of clothes for different gender. They were made to take different courses, like cooking class for girls and carpentry class for boys. Also, children were taught to behave differently due to their genders. However, among those examples above, the education of gender we have received is what influenced us most during gender socialization.…

They contain a will to go further than their expectation in school to outperform others. David Brooks says in the article Mind over Muscle that, “In surveys, kindergarten teachers report that girls are more attentive than boys and more persistent at tasks”. David Brooks uses the tone of empowerment to show that women exceed in education, learning and they pass men in their intelligence. The author wants to explain that boys and girls have different learning abilities and that there education values are different as well. Boys at an early age tend to not want to go to school and learn skills that will help them in the future and girls gain the ability to stay still and listen to what the teachers are trying to say to them. This abilities can lead and effect both boys and girl in different ways. The article states, “through elementary school, girls are less likely to be asked to repeat a grade. They are much less likely to be diagnosed with learning disability”. Boys tend to acquire a disability that affect the way they learn, girls tend to not get it as much as boys do. There might be more stress on boys in school to learn than the girls to do the same and that might cause the boys to have a melt down and cause the disability to learn. There can also be change in the they learn in…

There are many factors outside the school education system that have affected gender differences in school. Firstly it can be said that parents expect more from their children to be hardworking, have responsible over their actions and behaviour towards others, to be tidy and neat. This is known as Parental Aspiration. Compared to girls, boys are more Laddish behaved which leads them to disrespect teachers in schools. Furthermore peer pressure can also affect gender difference in school; this is suggested in some case where boys impress their friends by acting like a “Cool” person, in the end not paying attention in class or to their studies. Whereas most girls are more likely to achieve better in their studies, this is more likely they stay away bad influenced people. According to Francis (2000) “boys no longer likely to consider themselves more able than girls”, this is considered to the subject choices that boys undertake, which do not require academic success, however girls think more realistic which do require academic success such as becoming an Engineer or a teacher, this makes them seem to work harder in school’s to go to University and to pursue the profession job.…

    Gender Role Analysis

In many cases the classroom reinforces gender stereotypes perpetuated by society. This can be found in the materials used for instruction, communication between the teacher and his or her pupils and classroom interaction between the genders and with the instructor. Institutions generally have geared textbooks toward males with discussions of famous battles, politicians, and entrepreneurs with very little emphasis on female contributions in society. According to Sapiro, before the 1970s information provided to students “focused on and valued men more than women, indicated to boys and not girls that they should consider doing great things with their lives” (Sapiro, p. 155). Communication and interaction within the classroom also reinforce the stereotypical submissive female and aggressive male roles. Boys are more vocal than their female counterparts in class and instructors give them more potential interaction by recognizing them more. According to Sadker, “teachers call on and interact with boys more than girls. Boys use creative and effective techniques to catch the teacher’s attention” (Sadker & Sadker, 1994, p. 37). A boy will raise his hand, call out answers, and ask the teacher to call on him whereas a girl will raise her hand and if ignored put her hand down. Gender roles are also shaped by segregation of the sexes in certain classes. For example many…

A large number of female teachers have an adverse effect on boys, according to an essay Left Behind Boys, the effect is "so-called ‘boy crisis'" (Li). The female teacher is not easy to manage the boys, so it causes a situation that boys always make a wrong impression on everybody. However, "boys are struggling more than girls in school," according to the survey report, "while becoming intellectually and physically weaker" (Li). It doesn't mean that boys are not bright, and it just shows that boys cannot fit in school. Most of the boys are pretty naughty, they prefer to run anywhere rather than keep silence; then, they are also to be pinpointed "attention deficit hyperactivity disorder" (Li). Therefore, boys cannot control themselves when they…

This follows the idea that boys and girl’s brains are hard-wired differently and thus develop, process and respond differently (Hagg, 2000). Studies that followed classrooms using gender specific curriculum and teaching styles noticed an increased responsiveness amongst both male and female’s students, with a greater responsiveness among males. Likewise, teachers using gender specific material found a greater satisfaction in teaching.…

However, a classroom proves to hold one of the primary places that different genders revealed by other students and even teachers. Erin Palkhe, Ph.D. in Psychology strongly argued, In co-educational schools many think that the level of knowledge increases for girls but the truth justifies that boys statistically tend to become smarter in unexpected subjects (Palkhe 1). Because of the acceptance of these stereotypes, each child has to face a battle individually for themselves to stand up and prove that the theory said about themselves in not true. Teachers must also show an important factor by holding each student up with the same standards and expectations. Whereas the students converse better in a combined classroom, boys and girls turn out at ease with one another and not bothered to say what children think and brainstorm off each others…
