Short Term Memory And Working Memory Essay
Short-term memory as a working memory control process. There is a unique distinction between short-term memory and working memory. Short-term memory is used for holding small pieces of information over a short period of time and the working memory is part of the short-term memory that deals with immediate processes and scientists use it to refer to sustained neural activation. So even though the they directly correspond to one another, they have distinct differences that set them apart such as the tasks that each one is used to accomplish. Although looking at the distinction between the two becomes more clear at the theoretical level. Because people are still unsure about how the mind works, it makes more sense to look at this topic on a theoretical level, however using span tasks is not an accurate or completely reliable way to measure either of the two memories. I think more research into this topic would benefit our knowledge so we can understand more about how the short-term memory and the working memory works. That being said I am not fully convinced that we have found all the distinction between the two. Again since this is all in theory, there is no way to tell for certain that this is all accurate or not. There would need to be a lot more research and experiments done in order for scientists to understand more about how the short-term memory and working memory work together and how they are
