Short Story: An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge
Every single person in this world has at least one common thing with one another, we all die at some point in our lives. Some may live a long life, while others are cut short of their time in our world. I believe it’s not about how much time you have in your life, but how you use the time that God has allotted for you. In the short story, An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge, A civil war spy from the north is caught by the south, and is to be hung. As this spy inches closer to death, with his hands tied, feet tied, and neck tied, He goes to his happy place right before death. This spy has a flashback of his beautiful wife and him running into each other's arms. It seems like a beautiful moment, then it takes us back to reality and the south starts

    When it comes to choosing whether or not to read the text along with the film, most would recommend reading the story first for “An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge”. While the film had a mostly accurate portrayal of the story, one would need to read the text for the entire account. Although, the main character was believable as he made the reader or viewer sympathetic towards him. With flashbacks to his family, one could almost be empathetic with thoughts of losing someone. The use of camera angles was very effective. During the grand escape, they shot a majority of the shots at a high angle to show how helpless he was, at the mercy of the river. At times, the music could be a bit distraction. For example, when he first escaped, they played the song “Livin’ Man” and it was a bit strange. But at other times, the music helped to add intensity or emotion to the scenes when words could not.…

    Near the end of the story, the reader wonders why each time Bobby Lee and Hiram takes someone into the forest, they never come back. Well at the end of the story the whole family is taken to die. June Star's comment that the grandmother goes everywhere the family goes can be read as a sign that she will meet the same fate as them. There's also another blatant foreshadowing in the story.
