I have been researching on a certain dog breed of my choice, and that dog breed is called the Shih Tzu. Selective breeding is the exact opposite of natural selection, and it completely disrupts the purpose of evolution. The selective breeding of certain traits wanted by humans in this dog breed is evidence to evolution, because of the changes over time. As the time goes on, the breeds we selected can go on with worsening effects to the breed of the dog. As Darwin proposed, with given enough time the forces of natural selection could change the traits of species.The negative consequences of selective breeding can have major effects on the dog breeds such as breathing, heart failures, food allergies, birth effects and much more. Some of the consequences of selective breeding could be, that the problems that either of the parents had could go down into the next generations and get worse as the generations grow. Some common effects are more like behavioral problems. Some odd effects can be like loss of their smell and loss of their eyesight.

The Shih Tzu originally was bred in China. People bred this dog for companionship. The Shih Tzu was officially recognized by the AKC in 1969. This type of dog today is a companion and palace pet. Some general facts about the shih Tzu are it grws nine to ten inches, weighs nine to sixteen pounds, and lives ten to sixteen years. Some other cool things about the Shih Tzu dog breed is its name. The Shih Tzu’s name In Chinese means “little lion”, and is pronounced “sheed zoo”
