Shark Species Identified
The common species found within the 16 samples were Carcharhinus obscuras as three shark-sampled sequences were identified with this species. However three other samples of shark DNA were found to be apart of the group of sharks banned for fishing purposes including two samples identifying as Carcharodon carcharias and one sample classifying as Sphyrna zygaena (figure 3), resulting in in only 81.25% of the sampled sharks caught had abided with conservation protection of sharks.
Nucleotide Divergence
Through the extraction of DNA from the shark sampled tissues, and analysis of the COI gene, the results show a 0.5% nucleotide divergent difference between the shark species identified. It is implied in figure three
