To improve the health of American people, the Department of Health and Human Services developed health promotion programs which known as Healthy People. This promotion programs designed for every ten year based on the detailed study and observation. The current health promotion program is Healthy People 2020 (CDC, 2011). The Healthy People 2020 address all the health issues those need more concern to improve the health of American people. The Department of Health and Human Services provide information about each of these health issues and give suggestions how to overcome different issues. Sexually transmitted disease (STD) is one of the serious issues addressed in Healthy People …show more content…
They can provide health education programs for schools and various communities. Sexual education is essential for the children within ages 10 and 14. The safe sex, use of condoms, abstinence and the screening tests and different treatment options all should be included in the teaching sessions. Community nurses can support children by giving proper counseling. Nurses should teach their communities about the early detection of sexually transmitted diseases. They can encourage people for regular health checkups. Community nurses can share useful resources to the communities for implementing healthy sexual habits in their life (East & Jackson, …show more content…
