Sexual Assualt
What is sexual assault? Sexual assault is a crime committed by a person to another person without their consent by sexually touching them, threatening, viaginal, oral or anal penetration, sexual intercourse that one says no to, rape, attempted rape, as well as child molestation. Examples of this are voyeurism (when someone watches private sexual acts), exhibitionism (when someone exposes him/herself in public), incest (sexual contact between family members), and sexual harassment. It can happen in different situations like at school, at work, out in public or even on a date with your boyfriend. Sexual assault is one of the most serious crimes an individual can commit; it can scare a victim for many years or can haunt them for the rest of their lives. This crime is mostly committed by males on women but it can also be committed by males on males or female on females but this rarely occurs. The assailants that commit sexual assaults can be strangers, acquaintances, friends, or family members. Assailants commit sexual assault by way of violence, threats, coercion, manipulation, pressure or tricks. Whatever the circumstances, no one asks or deserves to be sexually assaulted. The victim toll of sexual assault is very high, each year approximately the average is 207,754 victims ages 12 and older are victims of sexual assault crimes. That is a very high number of people that are victims, mathematically speaking that is 2 people per minute that are getting sexually assaulted or raped by another individual. Victims usually go through a lot and different feelings tend to come out and they express it in many different ways. For example the hatred they will probably have towards the opposite sex, the hatred of themselves like blaming herself/himself for getting sexually assaulted and or feeling like their all alone in the world, they also feel ashamed of themselves and feel disgusted and hardly look at their faces in the mirror.
