Sex before Marriage
Excite
Good morning everyone. I’d like to start with a bible verse that can put into perspective what I will be trying to explain to you today, “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. “ – 1 Timothy 4:12 Meaning : True love waits.
So how many of you have something that is really special to you? Something really special to me for many reasons is my purity ring.
Today I am going to talk to you all about something that I feel very passionate about and I hope that after you hear my speech you may view things in a different light. It may be a topic you laugh or joke about, but when you think about it is a much bigger deal then it has recently come to be.
Launch
I believe that sex is a special thing to be done after you are married and not something that should be handed out to everyone and thrown away like it’s nothing.
3% of Americans wait until marriage to have sex. 60% female and 40% men.
It is virtually expected and it very rare to hear about people waiting till there married or even high school or college graduates who haven’t had sex yet. According to NPR. “Just under one-quarter (24 percent) of seniors in college say they are virgins."
I will discuss with you why I feel young people shouldn’t be having sex because of emotional distress, rate of divorces, unplanned pregnancies, and broken homes because of it.
Toward the end, I will answer any questions you have then conclude my speech.
Relate
You can benefit from this because this information may help you choose to make different choices and even if you have already had sex you could rethink and choose to refrain from it.
We may not always agree with people opinions, but the more one knows about a topic the better informed one is to make an educated decision.
Sex is something many people don’t know much about and even though you

The two authors gathered all available state information about abstinence only programs in the year 2005 and came to the conclusion that: “…abstinence only education does not reduce and likely increases teen pregnancy rates across states” (2). The article provides different types of charts that create a visual of the data collected. The use of the visual aids helps the reader interpret the research in a manner that is easy to understand and seems more tangible. The authors also examined whether certain factors, such as socio-economics, educational attainment, ethnic composition, and Medicaid waivers for family planning influenced the data collected, played a part in determining data results. Their research did find that these factors had an impact of the information collected and the results were published in the article with the other…

I view sex as a very vulnerable experience that two people experience to together, that creates another level of intimacy. In middle school, I would have said that sex only occurred between a man and woman who are married and want kids, in high school I would have gone on to say that sex should not be discussed because it is a private matter. Now, that I am in college and more educated on the matter I say that sex can be between a man and a woman, or a woman and woman, or a man and man who may or may not be married, and are both aware that they are in a sexual relationship that hopefully has a good interpersonal relationship. As a teenager, I didn’t think much of it because I thought I knew what it was, and what I thought it was didn’t make much sense. Now that I have a better sense of who I am and what I want, my beliefs have changed. Because of the education that I have received I think thinks that sex is something that should be discussed and not hidden, because everyone goes through it. Unlike how I was brought up, kids should be better educated on the subject because it causes confusion and sometimes harm. If a teenager enters a sexual relationship without proper knowledge and following improper information that can cause more harm than good in long…

Did you know that over half of all first marriages are now preceded by living together compared to virtually none 50 years ago? The number of unmarried couples living together increased tenfold from 1960 to 2000. The number of unmarried couples living together increased 72% between 1990 and 2000. By the year 2010, if the present trend continues, there will be 7 married couples for every cohabiting couple. (Cohabitation Facts, "Cohabitation - It's Training for Divorce”- Chuck Colson (1995). Here are some statistics on cohabitating couples. These numbers show that as times go on more and more people will be living together before marriage. What is your opinion on cohabitation before marriage? Is this something that you see yourself doing in the future?…

I feel that the church has misinterpreted the bible saying that is such a sin to have sex before marriage. There are only scriptures saying that you shall not commit adultery meaning not to cheat on your wife. The church has been able to brain wash and tell everyone that if you have sex before marriage you will not have a good and satisfying marriage; which is completely not true. Sex brings a great amount of joy to both sides of the party. Sex can also create a deeper bond between two people resulting in a way more intimate relationship.…

People might disagree about this statement they would say Purity seems archaic; abstinence impossible. Why wait when everyone else is getting the goods now? It’s just sex, the subject of nearly every movie and primetime show, even magazine ads. What’s so special about it? In a sex-saturated culture, waiting till marriage seems outdated. Pleasure is the name of the game. But that’s not the whole story. In addition to the risk of contracting STDs and AIDS or getting pregnant, premarital sex leads to emotional distress, distrust, regret and emptiness. That’s because sex connects two people in body and spirit; it’s impossible to separate the two. If you’re planning to give away your virginity, or are hurting from past sexual experiences, read on for a different view of sex.…
