Introduction
Riordan Manufacturing is a global plastics manufacturer employing 550 people with projected annual earnings of $46 million. The company is wholly owned by Riordan Industries, a Fortune 1000 enterprise with revenues in excess of $1 billion (Riordan Manufacturing, 2012).
The COO Hugh McCauley is requesting that a more sophisticated, state of the art information system technology be integrated with their current HR system into one single application. In order to achieve the best results for this project, we would need speak with our clients and interview people within the organization, see the existing system and how it works and what types of problems they are currently having.
Gathering Information
Gathering information we should have access to all people in the user area, there will not be a need to interview all so we will create a list and divide it into three sections. We will interview the most senior manager and have him/her supply us with a list of individuals to speak to. It is vital to interview this person at the start of the project. In addition they can provide additional detail as to any problems, the reasons for those problems, and suggested ways to resolve them. Line workers and support staff actually perform the detailed tasks of processing, manufacturing, data gathering, or reporting.
