Serial Plagiarism The Internet can be a valuable resource of information, but many popular websites cannot be trusted because they have plagiarized. One such popular website that commits plagiarism is the Huffington Post. In fact, Arianna Huffington, who owns this website, has committed plagiarism throughout her career. Arianna Huffington has committed plagiarism with 3 of her books and her online newspaper (Phillips, 2012). One way Ms. Huffington committed serial plagiarism was in three of her bestselling books. First: Ms. Huffington was accused of wrong doing with the first book: Maria Callas (1981). Two previous Callas biographers Henry Nesnesky and late Gerald Fitzgerald charged Ms. Huffington of “borrowing heavily” for her 1981 book (Orth, 2004, P.117). Mr. Nesnesky said he did not care, the late Mr. Fitzgerald settled out of court for low five figures according to Ms. Huffington (Orth, 2004, P.117). Second Book: Picasso: Creator and Destroyer (1988). Ms. Huffington accused of coping material from a four volume doctoral dissertation by: Lydia Gasman (Orth, 2004, P.117). Her husband Daniel laid blame on Ms. Huffington of using Gasman’s lifelong work as a data bank to write the book Picasso: Creator and Destroyer (1988). Mrs. Gasman was so distraught over the issues with Ms. Huffington she attributed her heart attack due to the stress Mr. & Ms. Huffington injected on her and Daniel. Third book: The Gods of Greece (1993) was also implicated as ideas cloned from the book Re-Visioning of Psychology (Hillman, 1975). Mr. Hillman said: “…I find her method not descent, not scholarly.” He continued: “I praise her for her mercurial gifts. As you know, Mercury was the god of thieves (Orth, 2004, P.118).” As evidenced above Ms. Huffington is a plagiarizer; she does not show any bias as to whom she steals ideas or words from.
