Senior Living Community Observation Paper
I visited Southern Knights Senior Living Community located in Tomball, Texas. The reason I chose this agency is because my friend works here.
The purpose and mission of this agency is to offer an extended-stay nursing care to seniors with varying levels of disabilities. Their mission is “to create an atmosphere where moments of joy, independence and wellness are the focus of each and every day for our residents and staff alike. Making every moment matter for our residents is our passion” (Wanetta Wilson founder) as well as improving the understanding of the health care needs of the elderly.
You can be Nurse’s aides, also known as certified nursing assistants. High school diploma and successful completion of a certified nursing assistant program. Must also pass a state exam. You can also be a Register Nurse. Bachelor's degree and associate's degree, or nursing diploma and also pass the National Council Licensure Examination before practicing in the profession. Referrals can also be made by personal physicians, assisted living facility staff, home health services, hospice, etc. Even though the referral or first contact with the home may come from another source and admission may be approved before formal application is made, an application process is necessary by the individual themselves or a qualified representative.
There are many different types of services the facility offers to the elderly such as. Extensive care a person receives outside a hospital. Offer help with bathing, getting dressed and eating, and ambulating including skilled care. Skilled nursing care is given by a registered nurse and includes medical monitoring and treatments. Skilled care also includes services provided by specially trained professionals, such as physical, occupational, and respiratory
