Self Reflective Essay: Eye Opening Experience
This was a really eye opening experience. The inventory got me thinking about many different aspects and how I learn and approach different problems and situations. The implication is that the different selfs (physical, emotional, social, critical, creative, and passionate) affect how you learn. In some situations you might be more confident in yourself than others. However, after you complete the self profile it is not really well defined about what the term survival, maintenance, and enhancement means. I can deduce that the survival means that I am just getting by, the maintence means I am trying but have to work at it, and enhancement means that I have mostly mastered that portion of myself. This would open up a discussion with the support team as to what your strengths and weaknesses are. I know for myself by thinking about the questions, it made more aware and as I go into a situation, I might think differently about how I approach the …show more content…
This would help you do lessons with differentiation because some students might work better together than others based on their self-profile. Another way of using this inventory is to see what skills need to be strengthened within a classroom setting. Through this inventory a person can work on these “self” parts throughout the year since a teacher can be considered part of the support team. A goal could be established with each student and reevaluated with the understanding that family/friends are also going to help reach the goal. This differentiation and enhancement of the developments is part of the flexible ALM programing approach principles (Betts & Kercher, 2009, p. …show more content…
I like the open ended statements that were part of the orientation with the “I am” poem and the journey into self. I really thought that the way that they presented the journey into self activity enabled a person to think about the present, the future, and how they can get there. Within the Dimension 2, Activity 3 the open ended statements made an individual critically think about themselves and their learning process by using the statements... “I now understand that I . . . My strengths for my participations are . . . An autonomous learner is . . . For my own development, I will . . . Overall, I see myself as . . .” (Betts,

In this task I will be reflecting upon an incident undertaken on area of my work. The model of reflection I’ve chosen is Gibbs (1988), which involves reflection on the description, feelings, evaluation, conclusion and action plan (Gibbs 1988). The Gibbs (1988) reflective cycle is fairly straightforward and encourages a clear description of the situation, analysis of feelings, evaluation of the experience, analysis to make sense of the experience, conclusion where other options are considered and reflection upon experience to examine what you would do if the situation arose again. The procedure in which I will be reflecting upon is Last offices; I chose this due to how constructive and valuable it was in my personal and professional development as a student practitioner nurse.…

During the first nine weeks I have learned an immense amount about myself. The multiple intelligences, learning styles, and 16 personalities tests have taught me to understand myself and how I learn. When reviewing the results I noticed extreme accuracy in every field covered, including, how I learn, communicate, develop relationships and see myself. There were subjects explained that I had never before considered about myself so it was interesting to see how people similar to me perform in those areas. Results of tests have begun to improve aspects of my life that I did not know needed improvement. The learning style survey informed me that I am a solitary learner, although I was aware of this previously the conclusions drawn were still beneficial…

On the self-assessment inventory, I scored between 76 and 88 out of 100 on each key competency except for the Change and Across Cultures competencies. My scores were within the numerical range for 68% of managerial professionals that completed this self-evaluation. For the most part, I see myself as very good on a number of the skills such as balancing my personal and work life, embracing uniqueness, supporting the goals of a team, and making ethical business decisions. For the Across Cultures competency, I am lacking in global experience and the skills to recognize the differences of various cultures and customs. In addition, I need to improve on recognizing, leading, and implementing adaptations when needed by teams and organizations.…

Things such as my expression of sexuality, different levels and aspects of my psychology, my personal reactions to certain social situations, and the way I pursue and value my career were all evaluated by answering questionnaires. In the end a lot was revealed about the way I handle and look at things and even my overall personality.…
