Sample Diary Entry (not to be copied or used as a personal diary entry.)

This was my first week of college and I tried to impress my tutor to show him I was serious about doing the course. I did this by dressing appropriately; buying all the equipment I needed, getting to college on time and not being distracted easily by others in the class. I really enjoyed this first week and got to know everyone quickly.
Most people went and had their showers in the morning before the activity but I couldn’t get up early enough and so instead I had my shower during one of the activities which I got in trouble for and so to improve on this the next morning I managed to get myself up earlier and have my shower before any activities started so it didn’t interfere.
After we had the introduction to this unit about discipline, I realised that sometimes I do not show very good self-control when in stressful situations. I remembered about this when I was at work on Saturday when a customer got angry with me because she wanted to return a product. I remembered what my tutor had said about self-control being part of good discipline, and so I handled the situation differently. I felt really good afterwards.
I am normally not good at arriving at places on time, and this week I have been getting up later and this has caused me to be late for college. I am annoyed with myself for allowing this to happen, and so I plan to go to bed a bit earlier next week, so that I can show good time keeping and punctuality.

This week our course went on boot camp in the new forest during this
We had to have good self-discipline, for example when we got there we had to set up camp and in pairs set up our tents independently after being shown how to do so by Phil. We also got put into groups and given a timetable of different activities that we had to take part in and so we had to be organised at time

P4.1- I have been involved in identifying hazards in my setting, such as in the water play area, the children accidently spilling water on the floor from splashing the water out of the water bowl and from trying to experiment with pouring and filling bottles. Therefore, because this happened I proceeded to use in initiative and clean up the spillage on the floor. The procedure I had took in this situation was that I asked the children to step away from the puddle on the floor and I informed one other staff about what I had seen and asked if they can keep an eye on children while I went to go and get a mop or a towel to clean up the spilt area. I then went to collect the appropriate facilities and clean up the wet area so the children would not slip over and hurt themselves. Once I had cleaned it all up I changed the clothes of a child, as they was wet from playing in the water and it hen put a dry towel on the floor so if there is another spillage, the towel will keep it fairly dry.…

Sleep is not an indulgence; it is actually a biological need that could help with your mood and abilities. Thereupon, going to school early has its pros and cons. Although you can finish your classes earlier when you start early in the morning, there could still be a lot of negative outcome. That would be all. Thank you for listening, and once again, good…

In the research done by Susan Black “The Search for True Grit” it states, “A quarter century later, psychologists and researchers have refined and redefined several related concepts and constructs, including self-control, self-discipline, self-management, and self-regulation. The terms vary, but researchers agree that these traits are essential for school success” (Black 52). This does not only apply to success in school, but also success in the real world. My mother had me at the age of twenty three and disciplined herself to finish her last year of college to become a teacher. Her road to becoming a teacher was not smooth, but because of her self-discipline she managed to finish college and received her bachelors in English, and go on to receive her certification in teaching. Having four children is not easy, but my mother has disciplined herself to keep up with our extremely busy lives. I take part in various organizations such as band, UIL, student council, and National Honor Society, therefore I am required to follow all of the set rules given to me. The set rules given to me are my responsibility to follow, which means I must have self-discipline. For example, meetings for most of the organizations I am involved in are at seven thirty in the morning, therefore I must go to bed early and wake up early to be able to be on time for the meetings. I am currently the drum major of my school’s…

I wake up at 6:00a.m. every morning during the weekdays and dread coming to school for seven and a half hours. The school board plans to add one and a half hours to school each day. Most schools start early in the morning and get out early in the afternoon. I’m not a morning person so I don’t like getting up early. On the weekends I sleep in really late unless we have to go somewhere.…

Proper exercise is essential for a healthy life style and overall wellness of the human body. Exercise can prevent disease, improve mood, and has many other health and psychological benefits as well. Often times, too much of a good thing can ultimately turn into an addiction or a serious problem. There are many reasons for concern and methods to beat an exercise addiction. Have you ever woken up feeling groggy and not wanting to go to school or do anything at all? As a result, many students go to school late or do not academically progress and participate in class. According to the Scholastic Scope article “Should School Start Later?” by Justin O’Neil and the article “Sleepy Teens: High School Should Start Later in the Morning” by Mark Fischetti, many schools are considering starting school later to help students succeed academically. Students have more trouble concentrating in class because they are not getting enough sleep. Some students arrive at school later because they oversleep. To make sure that there is less tardiness and the academic growth increases, schools are looking…

Also, in a landmark study in 1998 of adolescent sleeping habits, the Brown University researcher Mary Carskadon followed 10th-graders who were making the switch to a 7:20 a.m. start time, about an hour earlier than their schedule as ninth-graders. Despite the new schedule, the students went to bed at about the same time as they did the year before: 10:40 p.m. on average. Sleep is food for the brain. Skipping sleep can be very harmful, especially if your driving. Thats why people don't recommend driving at…

I went to bed at about 10:30 PM, which is right on my short term goal for the week. My actions were somewhat conductive to my goal because I made myself go to bed at 10:30 PM by avoiding naps. I was tired earlier and should have went to bed an hour earlier than my goal because it would've helped me prep myself for Daylight Savings Time. I didn't go to bed earlier because I was tempted to stay on my…
