1. Introduction Of The Case
DESCON has won the contract for the LASMO oil pipeline work for the Bhit gas field development project. Altaf Baig, who is the Head of the Project Divisions, is looking for a Site Manager of Grade Three at DESCON for LASMO Oil Pipeline Project.For this, Projects Division sent a HR requirement form to the HR Department after receiving confirmation from LASMO Oil Company to start work in April 2002. GM Projects Division Department also sent job specifications & job descriptions. Sabeeh Faruqi asked his deputy Shahid Luqman to send Five CVs. Shahid Luqman identified several competent candidates from the DESCON HRIS & sent them to Project Division for feedback.
2. The Search
Altaf Baig, the General Manager and the Head of Project Division received the following comments from HR on each candidate.
2.1Candidate No 1
Masood Ahmad:He was born in May 1961. He has a done Diploma of Associate Engineer from Pak – Swiss Centre. He is presently serving as a Deputy Manager in DESCON. He has piping fabrications and erection, structure fabrication and stationary equipment competencies. He is physically fit for the job. He has good recommendations from seniors as a manager and planner. He has sufficient field experience of oil industry.
2.2Candidate No 2
Hamid Mahmood:He was born in May 1961. He has a degree of BE in Mechanical Engineering from UET. He is presently serving as a Manager in DESCON. He has piping fabrication and erection, structure fabrication and stationary equipment competencies. He is physically fit for the job. He is able to handle a project of 1.5 million man-hours with ease.
