The saying that we all know from when we were younger about how sticks and stones may break our bones, but words will never hurt us, is a complete lie. Just by saying a nice word can make someone’s day go from hell to them feeling like they can overcome the difficult day, but that can be the total opposite too. Someone may be having a wonderful day, seeing how nothing could go wrong, until someone is quick to judge them, and their day can dramatically change from a good day, to a day where they start down grading themselves, sometimes to the point where they may not even want to live anymore. This relates to my life because so many people these days are quick to judge and jump to conclusions before they know all the facts. For instance in the book the Blind Side by Michael Lewis, many people in the society are very quick to judge character Michael Oher. He’s big, tall, black, practically homeless, is going to a very nice school, and his mother is a drug addict and abuses alcohol. Michael is a very smart young man, many just think that “he was ignorant, but a lot of people mistake ignorance for stupidity and knowingness for intelligence.” (Lewis -).
